Justin Forsett, Bernard Pierce, Lorenzo Taliaferro's Post-Week 6 Fantasy Outlook

Sean ODonnellOct 12, 2014

The Baltimore Ravens tallied a whopping 35 points over the first 16 minutes of action on Sunday against the embattled Tampa Bay Buccaneers. While all of those scores were through the air, the early lead allowed fantasy owners of running backs Justin Forsett, Bernard Pierce and Lorenzo Taliaferro to get a good idea of the team's distribution of carries.

Here's a look at how the trio of ball-carriers fared on Sunday:

Forsett continued to show why he is Baltimore's best option out of the backfield in Week 6. Entering Sunday's contest, he was already averaging 5.9 yards per carry. An early 52-yard scamper against the Buccaneers boosted that impressive average nicely.

Luke Jones of WNST.net shared that sentiment:

Forsett has established himself as a home-run-hitting ball-carrier. His ability to gain chunks of yards at a time warrants him as a solid RB2 despite sharing carries out of Baltimore's backfield.

Pierce received some early touches as well, but he wasn't nearly as effective as Forsett. However, he should remain the team's goal-line back and will continue to receive carries, as Forsett's stature doesn't allow for an abundant workload.

Fantasy expectations should be tempered for Pierce right now. Forsett is the clear No. 1 and a decrease in carries significantly hurts Pierce's value. Consider him a flex option going forward.

Taliaferro didn't receive a single touch early in the game, as the Ravens went with the duo of Forsett and Pierce. That's not good news for his fantasy owners, as his value dips to nothing more than a handcuff at this point. There's no reason to add Taliaferro to a starting lineup in any format as long as Baltimore's other backs are healthy.
