Gio Bernard, Jeremy Hill's Instant Fantasy Reaction After Week 6
Giovani Bernard continues to show that he is one of the best fantasy football players in the league while clearly dominating the backfield over Jeremy Hill.
Coming into the season, fans were nervous about drafting Bernard due to the fact that Hill could take away carries, especially on the goal line. However, the second-year player out of North Carolina continues to show he can be a big-time player no matter who else is on his team.

Rookie WRs Who Will Outplay Their Draft Value 📈
Here is a breakdown of the two running backs for the Bengals:
| Gio Bernard | 18 | 137 | 1 | 4 | 20 | 0 | 5 |
| Jeremy HIll | 8 | 22 | 1 | 4 | 13 | 0 | 4 |
Bernard had himself a great fantasy day against the Carolina Panthers thanks to just one play, an 89-yard run for a touchdown in the second quarter. Aditi Kinkhabwala of NFL Network broke down how impressive the play was for the running back:
"To be fair, before Gio Bernard outran everyone, he ran through one Panther, stiff-armed another. 89 is 2nd longest run in #Bengals history
— Aditi Kinkhabwala (@AKinkhabwala) October 12, 2014"
While he did miss some time with a shoulder injury, he returned in time for overtime. He showed with the effort that he can rack up touchdowns even if the coaching staff gives away his goal-line carries.
Meanwhile, Bernard remains consistent thanks to his ability to get yards through the air and on the ground. Even with a slow start to the season, he was averaging 101.3 total yards per game coming into Week 6 and had little problem getting plenty of yards again.
The starter consistently gets the majority of work in the backfield and always has a chance for big plays. While the time has likely passed for people to buy low on the fantasy player, you want the running back if you get the chance.
On the other hand, Hill had some solid plays when he was given a chance, including a touchdown in the fourth quarter. He remains worthy of a roster spot due to the fact he is still part of the offense and can always be productive against a weaker opponent. If anything happens to Bernard, Hill could immediately become a top-20 option at the position.
However, the running back is clearly the No. 2 player on this team and should remain on your bench for the immediate future.
