Rex Ryan Rumors: Latest Buzz and Speculation on Coach's Future with Jets
Despite a disappointing start to the 2014 season and a lack of playoff appearances since 2010, reports emerged on Sunday suggesting that Rex Ryan's head coaching job with the New York Jets is safe, at least for the time being.

Certainly the key aspect of the report is that Ryan somehow needs to right the ship in New York. To be fair, Ryan readily admitted as much earlier in the week.
“You’re right, if that’s the case and we don’t get this thing on the right track, I don’t think for a minute I’ll be here [in 2015],” Ryan said on ESPN Radio, via Brian Costello of the New York Post. “I know I won’t, but I believe this team will right itself and we’ll find a way.”
It's just as fascinating that the Jets were worried about Ryan's departure coming back to haunt them in the future, however, a strong indication that they still believe in his ability to lead a team as a coach. In fact, that would seem to suggest that general manager John Idzik is on a hotter seat than Ryan for failing to surround him with the talent needed to succeed.
Rapoport certainly hinted as much:
It wouldn't be a Jets season without some sort of major drama, of course. But if the Jets don't turn things around by the end of the season, the only drama might be the team's search for a new head coach and general manager.
