Luis Suarez to Receive European Golden Shoe Award from Kenny Dalglish

Luis Suarez will be presented with the Golden Shoe next week, and one of his biggest supporters will be there to hand him the prize. 

Suarez has arranged to fly in Kenny Dalglish for the ceremony, and his former boss at Liverpool will give him the award. 

As The Guardian reports:

He had hoped that Steven Gerrard would be able to join him at the event too but the Liverpool captain was unable to travel. Suarez’s initial idea to receive the award in front of supporters at Anfield was not possible.

Suarez won the Golden Shoe, awarded by the European Sports Magazines organisation, after his 31 league goals last season made him the continent’s joint top scorer with Real Madrid’s Cristiano Ronaldo, who will be handed the award in a separate ceremony in Madrid on 6 November.

Dalglish constantly waxed lyrical about Suarez's performances when he managed the striker at Anfield, and he defended him during his bans for biting and for racially abusing Patrice Evra. 

As recently as this summer, he urged Liverpool hang on to the Uruguay star despite the player receiving a hefty ban for biting Giorgio Chiellini during the World Cup.
