New York Knicks vs. Boston Celtics: Final Results, Reactions and Analysis

Derek Fisher's coaching debut resulted in a loss on Wednesday night, as the New York Knicks dropped their 2014 NBA preseason opener to the Boston Celtics by the score of 106-86 at the XL Center in Hartford, Connecticut.

Boston's Jared Sullinger led all scorers with 23 points while grabbing five rebounds. Four other Celtics also finished in double figures in scoring.

Tim Hardaway Jr. had a team-high 18 points for New York and Carmelo Anthony, who played in his first game since signing the $124 million deal to remain with the Knicks, had 10 points in just 21 minutes of action.

The contest saw the debut of the triangle offense that is being implemented into the Knicks, but it did not have much success against the Celtics defense. New York coughed up 28 turnovers during the game, the same amount as the number of field goals made.

Boston, on the other hand, had a good night shooting from the field. A total of 16 players on the roster got in the game and combined for 48.8 percent shooting while going 11-of-22 from beyond the arc.

The Celtics were without a few of their key players, as Rajon Rondo (hand), Jeff Green (calf), James Young (hamstring) and Vitor Faverani (knee) all sat out with their respective injuries.

The win improves the Celtics to 2-0 in their preseason, and the two sides will meet again in a neutral site, Connecticut. This time it will be at the Mohegan Sun Arena in Uncasville on Saturday night.
