As if Monday night’s WWE Raw wasn’t exciting enough for wrestling fans with The Rock making an appearance, The Authority had a big announcement regarding John Cena and Dean Ambrose:
That’s right, Cena and Ambrose are going to have to go through each other at Hell in a Cell if they want a shot at Seth Rollins.
The drama started building at WWE Raw on Monday when Cena took on Randy Orton, Seth Rollins and Kane in the main event. While Cena certainly held his own for a while, the three competitors began to wear him down with quick tags.
Rollins eventually capitalized on Cena’s waning condition near the end of the fight when he tagged in and used a Blockbuster from the middle rope. All three then went after Cena, causing the ref to ring the bell.
Ambrose appeared, sprayed some ketchup and mustard from his hot dog cart on Kane and Orton for good measure and then took down Rollins after Cena helped clear the ring.
Of course, Ambrose then grabbed Cena and ended Monday’s Raw as the last man standing. Talk about foreshadowing the battle that is yet to come.
That growing tension between Ambrose and Cena is one of the most interesting storylines in all of WWE right now and will come to the fore at Hell in a Cell. WrestlingInc.com certainly seemed to approve of the matchup, while Ringside Xcess seemed ready to get the battle underway already:
It is also clear that both Cena and Ambrose want their shots at Rollins, considering the fact that he is the prize awaiting the winner.
Cena contests are always something of a lightning rod, and this showdown between rising star Ambrose and one of the most established names in the sport is sure to both thrill and divide fans at Hell in a Cell.
The winner better save something in the tank for Rollins, though.
