The Seattle Seahawks received some bad news during their Monday Night Football contest against the Washington Redskins when center Max Unger left the game with an apparent foot injury. Bob Condotta of The Seattle Times tweeted an update on the veteran's status:
Steve Schilling entered the game in Unger's absence, but luckily the starter wasn't held out for long. After receiving attention on the sideline, he returned to the field for a late fourth-quarter drive, via the Seahawks' official Twitter account:
After the Seahawks' win, Pete Carroll commented on Unger's status via the Seahawks:
Curtis Crabtree of Sports Radio KJR added:
This came as a huge scare for the reigning Super Bowl champions. Unger's physical play in the trenches is instrumental to Seattle's successful ground game and protection of quarterback Russell Wilson. Entering Monday's contest, Pro Football Focus (subscription required) ranked Unger as the league's No. 9 center with a positive-3.4 rating.
Around the NFL shared its opinion of the heralded offensive lineman as well:
While Unger was able to get back into the game, keep a keen eye on his situation, as any setbacks that lead to missed time could severely hinder Seattle's offensive efficiency.
