Who Said It: Kanye West or Floyd Mayweather?
If rapper Kanye West and pro boxer Floyd Mayweather Jr. have proved anything, it's that self-aggrandizing narcissism is time-consuming and a talent in and of itself.
Someone can be self-confident, or full of themselves (depending upon the observer), but even among the supremely self-confident—dare I say arrogant—walking among us, few have shown the pure artistry of West and Mayweather.
What makes these two truly birds of a feather is not the fact that they're both talented, rich eccentrics whose megalomania is somewhat reality-based—because plenty of world-class athletes and artists can claim the same. It's the way in which they live and breathe it.
West and Mayweather leave no rhetorical stone unturned when sharing their amazingly disconnected thoughts with the rest of the world, taking to the airwaves, the printing presses and—of course—social media.
Maybe these two don't live in the same universe, but they each certainly occupy one within the same zip code—a zip code no one else shares.

That reading bit may have thrown you off, but it was actually Kanye West who said that for the first time back in 2006. I say "for the first time" because it sounds like something he probably says a lot.

Floyd Mayweather hilariously claimed it wasn't about the money prior to his fight against Carlos Baldomir back in November 2006. If there's anything we've learned in the subsequent eight years, it's that it's always about the money for this guy.

In an interview with AskMen.com, Floyd Mayweather was asked about Shane Mosley's prospects for beating him in (what was then) their upcoming fight. The full exchange:
"Q: He has to be at his best to beat you. Do you have to be at your best to beat him?
A: I am the best. There is nobody better than me. When I step in the ring, I bring everything I have.
"
You'll notice he didn't even answer the question, but whatever...he didn't say he was the best at answering questions.

Kanye West did some next-level philosophizing during an interview with GQ in the summer of 2014. Here's the entire quote:
"I don't give a f--k about people's opinions. Because when a kid falls in love with an airplane or a bike or a dinosaur—especially if you're an only child and it's not because of the book that the sibling was reading—it's like, f--k, you mean to tell me that the dinosaurs walked the earth and stuff like that?! That's amazing! You mean to tell me that these giant multiton crafts can fly that fast and that loud, and they can flip, and there's danger, the possibility of them exploding? That's f-----g cool! You mean to tell me that this girl with this f-----g body and this face is also into style, and she's a nice person, and she has her own money and is family-oriented? That's just as cool as a f-----g fighter jet or dinosaur! And just as rarely seen.

Here's another gem from Kanye's interview with GQ in 2014:
"There's no fangs. I don't have fangs. I'm a porcupine. I'm a blowfish. Like, I'm a—what's the fish that blows up? ... I'm a blowfish. I'm not a shark, I'm a blowfish. So that perfect example about me hitting my head, it's like a blowfish. I wasn't coming out of my house going to a paparazzi's house to attack them. I'm defending my family in front of my own house. I'm defending my name as someone's screaming something negative at me. That's a blowfish. People have me pinned as a shark or a predator in some way, and in no way am I that. I wouldn't want to hurt anyone. I want to defend people. I want to help people.

Back in 2009, Kanye West was selling a book and offered up his opinions on books in general. The full quote:
"Sometimes people write novels and they just be so wordy and so self-absorbed. I am not a fan of books. I would never want a book's autograph. I am a proud non-reader of books.

Back in February 2009, Kanye West was asked what drove him in an interview with Details magazine. Here's the full quote:
"People ask me a lot about my drive. I think it comes from, like, having a sexual addiction at a really young age. Look at the drive that people have to get sex - to dress like this and get a haircut and be in the club in the freezing cold at 3 A.M., the places they go to pick up a girl. If you can focus the energy into something valuable, put that into work ethic.
"
Honestly, the rest of that interview is worth reading. It's…insane.

Just in case you were wondering if it's a lot of responsibility being Kanye West, apparently it is. He tweeted the glorious water bottle quote on October 16, 2010.
