Brian Vogler is winding up the last summer camp on the University of Alabama for this year. Both Vogler and the coaches on hand liked what they saw.
Today, Brian committed to the University of Alabama and Nick Saban was glad to land him.
And why not? At 6'7" and 250 pounds this is a tight end who can block like a tackle, run like a linebacker, and catch with the soft hands of a wide receiver.
He was courted by many other big schools including Oklahoma, but the Columbus, Ga. native said he felt Alabama was the best fit for him, as he is a traditional tight end and the high school he plays for uses him that way.
Vogler liked Alabama because that's the way they use their tight ends as well.
So intent is Brian on his choice that he is cancelling all his other visits.
Many services have him as one of the best tight ends in the country, and he is rated a four-star prospect. Though he plays for a run-happy offense, he still caught 21 balls for more than 400 yards and six touchdowns.
He's quite a handful for a cornerback to bring down.
Vogler marked the end of a quiet month recruiting-wise, as he is the only person signed in July, and comes in as Nick Saban's 17th recruit for 2010.
