1 of 4

He is one of the brightest young talents in European football and it seems Chelsea are ready to bid up to £48 million for Liverpool's Raheem Sterling.

Sterling is currently negotiating a new contract at Anfield, but The Express suggests both player and club are not close to an agreement.

Paris Saint-Germain and Real Madrid are reportedly interested in the player, with Jose Mourinho now rumoured to be hunting Sterling as part his on-going project at Stamford Bridge.

The Express reports Mourinho will target some of England's best young stars next summer, with Ross Barkley also on his radar.

Petr Cech Throws the Chelsea Gauntlet

2 of 4

Chelsea goalkeeper Petr Cech has hinted he may attempt to force through a move from Stamford Bridge if he isn't given more first-team opportunities this season.

Cech has been replaced by Thibaut Courtois as Chelsea's No. 1 this term, featuring just twice.

Speaking to a Czech radio station (per The Guardian), Cech said:

"

I have not spoken to anyone, but I think they know me well enough at the club to know that the situation is definitely not the way I would imagine.

With the Euros [in 2016] and the national team in mind, there is no time for me to sit on the bench and not to play. If the situation will not start to improve for me, then I will want to solve it.

David Luiz Turned Down a New Deal at Chelsea in Favour of PSG Move

3 of 4

David Luiz has claimed Chelsea offered him a contract extension before his £50 million move to Paris Saint-Germain this summer.

The Brazilian's transfer was hailed as a masterstroke by Jose Mourinho, who used the funds from his sale to strengthen his team elsewhere with the capture of Cesc Fabregas and Diego Costa.

Speaking to the Daily Mail's Sam Cunningham, Luiz suggests it was he who wanted to leave Chelsea, however:

"

Chelsea offered me a new contract to stay but it was my choice to come here. I was happy with the plan PSG offered to me and I think it was exactly the right moment to move.

I was so happy at Chelsea, I won two European titles and the FA Cup, it was great for me.

I'm a lucky guy. I was playing for a big club like Chelsea and now I've got another opportunity to play for another big club. I'm enjoying it here.

Loic Remy Was Set to Stay at QPR Before His Last-Minute Chelsea Move

4 of 4

It seems David Luiz wasn't the only player to be offered a new contract this summer only to move on elsewhere.

According to QPR owner Tony Fernandes, Remy was set to sign a new deal with the Loftus Road club before Chelsea snapped him up just 48 hours before the transfer window closed.

As reported by Goal's Peter Thompson, Fernandes tweeted the following regarding Remy: "Remy was staying, he was in my house for dinner to sign the extension. Then Chelsea called."

As we know, the French striker made a £10.7 million move to Stamford Bridge. He's Fernando Torres, who signed a two-year loan deal with AC Milan.

Remy scored on his Chelsea debut against Swansea City but hasn't found the back of the net since.
