Bayern Munich Transfer News and Rumours Tracker: Week of October 6

Stefan BienkowskiOct 6, 2014

It was another successful matchday for Bayern Munich this weekend, as Pep Guardiola's side overcame Hannover by four goals to nil, just days after picking up their second consecutive win in the Champions League against CSKA Moscow

Yet transfer rumours and news stories wait for no in-form side, and as expected, this new week has brought with it a whole host of tales surrounding the Bavarian champions.

Be sure to check back throughout the week for additional and updated information on stories surrounding Bayern as we get them.

Last updated: Monday, October 6.

Shaqiri Decides to Stay

After a rare start and a wonderful assist for Bayern at the weekend, as his side convincingly overcame Hannover in the Bundesliga, young Xherdan Shaqiri has again spoken out about his possible transfer from the club.

Yet, this time, the midfielder has decided that he wants to stay, stating that there is a place for him in this competitive squad.

As stated in an unsourced interview with Sport1 (German) but later reported and translated by FIFA.com on October 6, Shaqiri pointed out that he has a contract until 2016 and that Bayern had already told him that he wasn't going to be sold.

The Swiss international added: "I try to do my best in training and when the coach rewards me with appearances, like today against Hannover, then that's even better. I'm always delighted when I can start games, and I show that too, like I did this time. I think everybody could see how hungry I am to play football."

Club Chairman Singles out Robben and Lewandowski

Comments from the Bayern boardroom are very rarely in short supply these days—whether they be in good taste or not—and this week has seen more of the same as chairman Karl-Heinz Rummenigge spoke out about his admiration for Arjen Robben and new signing Robert Lewandowski.

Talking to the FCB.de on October 5, Rummenigge couldn't hold back his praise of the Dutch winger following another dazzling performance against Hannover: “He’s in unbelievable form, as we saw at the World Cup. He really seems to have looked after himself. He’s been unplayable at times for every defender, including Sergio Ramos, who’s known as one of the best defenders in the world. He’s superb at the moment.”

Then, turning his attention to the Polish striker, Rummenigge added: “Robert had a great game, not just because he scored twice but for the way he took his goals, like a world-class striker."

High praise indeed from the twice-honoured European footballer of the year.
