Zac Stacy, Benny Cunningham's Instant Fantasy Reaction After Week 5

Timothy RappOct 5, 2014

There haven't been too many players on the St. Louis Rams with legitimate fantasy value this season. Zac Stacy has been one player who deserves a spot in most starting lineups, though his actual value moving forward remains fuzzy.

After a shaky start to the season, Stacy posted two 11-point fantasy performances before St. Louis' Week 4 bye. That seemed to lock him into RB2 or a weekly flex status for most fantasy players.

He started a bit more slowly against the Philadelphia Eagles, however, with nine touches for 43 yards in the first half. Still, fantasy players who rostered Stacy can take solace to the fact that backup Benny Cunningham had just four carries for 19 yards in that same half.

Both players fantasy value on the day was clouded a bit by the fact that Stacy left the game in the second half due to injury, however. Here's how they each finished:

Depending on his injury status, Stacy continues to be the main man in this backfield. While it seems like Stacy might have trouble reaching double-digit points in weeks he doesn't score a touchdown—and his fumble on Sunday was troubling—the fact that his starting place seems assured makes him valuable at a position with so many injuries and committees.

Stacy will continue to be a weekly start in all formats so long as he's healthy. Monitor his status carefully, however—Cunningham is a very nice handcuff to own and would instantly become a flex option if Stacy missed any time.

Hit me up on Twitter—I'll answer your fantasy questions and make some corny jokes, too. It's more fun than Tom Brady's exit strategy.
