Charlie Whitehurst's Updated Fantasy Outlook After Jake Locker's Injury

Donald WoodOct 5, 2014

Tennessee Titans quarterback Jake Locker suffered a hand injury on Sunday against the Cleveland Browns, and backup Charlie Whitehurst is now the starter.

Locker’s return was listed questionable, according to John Glennon of The Tennessean, but Locker never returned to the game:

Before going down, Locker was 8-of-11 for 79 yards and a touchdown, and he added another 34 yards and a touchdown rushing. Whitehurst only played a short time before halftime, but he was 2-of-3 for 86 yards and two touchdowns.  He finished the day with 194 yards and two touchdowns.

Talk about making an instant impact.

Locker is still the top quarterback on the Titans' roster, but he's had a very tough time staying healthy. Still, it’s great news for Tennessee fans regarding the depth at a key position.

For fantasy owners with Locker, the injury frustrations continue to mount. He has played in just 23 combined games over the first three years of his career.

Tennessee’s offensive unit has been inconsistent with or without Locker under center, and riding with any Titans QB in fantasy football is a dangerous concept. Regardless of how deep your league is, you should be avoiding both Locker and Whitehurst.
