Jay Cutler's Instant Fantasy Reaction After Week 5

Timothy RappOct 5, 2014

Jay Cutler giveth, and Jay Cutler taketh away.

As anybody who has had Cutler on their fantasy team knows, you historically have to take the good with the bad with the oft-erratic Cutler. On Sunday—and for much of the 2014 season—fantasy players who started Cutler were getting the good, as Cutler notched 21 fantasy points on the day.

Here are his stats:

Cutler also rushed for a score.

To Cutler's credit, he's been pretty steady in fantasy this season. He's yet to dip below 16 fantasy points in a game and at the time of publication his touchdown-to-interception ratio (12-to-5) was pretty solid. It's a far cry from the player who struggled with injuries last season and finished with 16 or more fantasy points in just six of the 11 games he played while tossing 12 picks.

It would appear that Marc Trestman has worked his magic with yet another quarterback, and Jay Cutler is fast approaching weekly QB1 status. While a relapse into the turnover-prone ways of his past are always possible, if you're rostering Cutler you have every reason to feel confident at the moment with him as your starter.
