Everton Reward Supporters Who Trekked to Russia with Tickets to Away Lille Clash

Sean SwabyOct 3, 2014

Those who travel (very far) shall be rewarded; that's the message Everton are sending to their fanbase.

Roughly 500 fans made the daunting 2,000-plus mile trek for the Toffees' Europa League match at Russian side Krasnodar.

Everton mustered a late draw through Samuel Eto'o to reward those who made the journey. The club further thanked their travelling supporters by announcing they would purchase those same fans tickets to Everton's match at Lille in three weeks.

The trip to Lille in northern France is far less daunting than Krasnodar.

Roberto Martinez said, via David Anderson of the Mirror, that the club wanted to show their appreciation for the loyalty:

"

We want to give these supporters a big thank you. We found it really tough travelling to Krasnodar and it took us five hours flying back.

We have heard stories of how the fans tried to get there—one spent nine hours on two flights and then got a train all the way around the Black Sea to Krasnodar.

Their journeys were incredible and we want to say thank you to them.

"

Respect.
