On Sunday, thousands will descend upon Minneapolis for the Twin Cities Marathon. The event is called the most beautiful urban marathon in the United States. While organizers and runners from other races might dispute that claim, there's no doubt Minny hosts an aesthetically pleasing event.

Here's the times for each event.

From the Former Site of the Metrodome to the State Capitol

The Twin Cities Marathon features a point-to-point course. It begins near the former location of the HHH Metrodome in the downtown area of Minneapolis.

Any time you go to Minnesota, you're assured of seeing a fair number of large bodies of water. The winding course goes around four lakes and both sides of the Mississippi River. There's some elevation to be aware of if you're planning on participating.

Hills on the course see the elevation rise to 840 feet above sea level, but no climbs are over 100 feet long. As runners come closer to the finish, they will be greeted by the bells of the Saint Paul Cathedral and through to the State Capitol and the finish line.

You can see the full course map here.

New to This Year's Event

Fun beverages for runners 21 and older will be waiting for those who finish the race. With a valid ID, exhausted men and women can rehydrate with a 12-ounce can of Summit beer.

Because the Metrodome won't be available to protect runners from the elements, participants are being encouraged to wear layers. That may not be a major issue considering the temperature is expected to be mild. Per Weather.com, the high is 53 degrees on Sunday, and there's no chance of rain.

Sunshine, running, lakes, hills and beer. What else could you ask for on a Sunday morning and afternoon?

All information per event's official website.
