Sports Stars Posing for Old School Portraits #TBT
The whole of social media has really embraced Throwback Thursday. Each week, feeds on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram are awash with photos that are high on nostalgia and low on clarity.
Nothing says #TBT like a ridiculously blurry high school yearbook picture.
It’s a weekly event we’ve embraced here at Bleacher Report, if only on a semi-weekly basis, usually with a different theme. Since kids are all heading back to school around now, this week we’ve got some of the best school portraits.
Let's take a look.
Arian Foster, Houston Texans
1 of 15Instagram ID: arianfoster
Caption: 7 yrs old.
Houston Texans running back Arian Foster was probably a lot more pleasant to be around back then, before he developed his irrational bitterness for the media.
Damontre Moore, New York Giants
3 of 15Instagram ID: damonster98
Caption: #TBT
Is it just me or is New York Giants defensive end Damontre Moore wearing the jeans of a much larger child in that photo?
Michael Phelps, U.S. Swimming
4 of 15Instagram ID: m_phelps00
Caption: #tbt from wayyyy back
Many years and about a billion Olympic medals later, somehow swimming legend Michael Phelps looks exactly the same.
Mohamed Massaquoi, NFL Free Agent
5 of 15Instagram ID: mjmassaquoi
Caption: Circa 1987
Free-agent wide receiver Mohamed Massaquoi actually doesn’t look quite school age in this portrait, but him rocking that adorable vest was just too cute to exclude.
Sidney Crosby, Pittsburgh Penguins
6 of 15Instagram ID: s_crosby87
Caption: #tbt
Forever baby-faced Pittsburgh Penguins superstar Sidney Crosby is easily recognizable in this throwback photo. Which makes sense because even after years in the league, he still doesn’t look a day over 14.
Pierre Thomas, New Orleans Saints
7 of 15Instagram ID: pierre_thomas
Caption: Found this for throwback Thursday.
New Orleans Saints running back Pierre Thomas rocking that throwback Cosby sweater. It’s about time ridiculously busy sweaters made a comeback.
Mitch McGary, Oklahoma City Thunder
8 of 15Instagram ID: mitchmcgary_33
Caption: #tbt ya boy killin it with the mullet lol [various emoji] #killinthegame
Oklahoma City Thunder rookie forward Mitch McGary isn’t even lying—he is killing it with that mullet and step ladder!
Evan Mathis, Philadelphia Eagles
9 of 15Instagram ID: evanmathis69
Caption: #tbt 2000 Alabama Heavyweight State Champ. Bieber stole my hairstyle.
Philadelphia Eagles guard Evan Mathis rocked that haircut so hard that it should probably be named after him, rather than Justin Bieber. At least he managed to do it without looking like a lady.
Jason Kipnis, Cleveland Indians
10 of 15Instagram ID: jasonkipnis22
Caption: #tbt #bigleagueflow #mymomdressedme
Cleveland Indians second baseman was fantastically adorable as a child, even though it looks like he’s wearing his grandfather’s toupee.
Matt Elam, Baltimore Ravens
12 of 15Instagram ID: walknhitstick26
Caption: Started..!
Baltimore Ravens safety Matt Elam has definitely grown into his pads in the years since this portrait was taken.
Ronnie Hillman, Denver Broncos
13 of 15Instagram ID: flashlife23
Caption: Handsome smile as a kid #capwas2big #tbt #iknowthejokescoming
Denver Broncos running back Ronnie Hillman looking smart in that cap and gown in what must have been his kindergarten graduation photo? Are those a thing?
Ryan Lochte, U.S. Swimming
14 of 15Instagram ID: ryanlochte
Caption: One of my first buzz haircuts. #momdidntknow #tbt
He may not have been the smartest fish at school, but Olympic swimmer Ryan Lochte sure was adorable.
C.J. McCollum, Portland Trail Blazers
15 of 15Instagram ID: 3jmccollum
Caption: I don't usually do tbt but this was funny
I think I speak for everyone on Earth when saying thank you to the Portland Trail Blazers’ C.J. McCollum for making an exception and posting this hilarious photo. No clue what’s going on, but those outfits are priceless.
