WWE NXT: Full Preview, Rumors and More for October 2

The Doctor Chris MuellerOct 2, 2014

Welcome to Bleacher Report's preview for the October 2 episode of NXT on the WWE Network. Spoilers are already out there, but if you want to know what will happen without having the matches spoiled for you, you're in the right place.

This week will be the third show from the four-week block that was taped at Full Sail University back in September.

It'll be a big night for NXT. Two title matches are set to take place, but one of the biggest reasons to tune in has nothing to do with a championship. Kenta, who now goes by Hideo Itami, will also be in action in what will be his second match since joining the NXT roster.

The Japanese Superstar is someone who is expected to be a major force in the developmental system and eventually on the main roster. Watching his progress is going to be a treat for wrestling fans. He is one of the most talented grapplers to be signed in quite some time.

We'll have to wait for Prince Devitt and Kevin Steen to make their debuts, but that shouldn't be too far off. Let's go through what we can expect to see on this week's episode of NXT.

The Women

The ladies of NXT will kick off the action this week with a rematch from the recent Takeover 2 live special. Bayley will get another shot at the Women's Championship when she takes on Charlotte.

These two delivered one of the standout performances at TO2, and with the skill they possess, it's likely that they will give us another great match this week.

Bayley came closer than she ever has at winning gold during their last encounter, but Charlotte was able to fend off the ever-bubbly Bayley and hold on to her title.

A win here would definitely solidify Charlotte's title run and prove she is not just a paper champion, but a victory would be even bigger for Bayley.

Winning the NXT Women's Championship would push her to the top of the roster and validate all the hard work she has put into her career over the past six years.

Regardless of who wins, this should be a very entertaining match that showcases both women's strengths while also giving fans an exciting bout to remember.

The Tag Teams

The tag team division will be represented this week in a match featuring Simon Gotch and Aiden English, known collectively as The Vaudevillains. They will be taking on Jason Jordan and Tye Dillinger.

Jordan and Dillinger have been teaming together for a little while now, but they have yet to really make an impact on the NXT audience or get a win for that matter.

English and Gotch are one of the more featured teams in the division, which includes being one of the only duos who actually have a team name.

Considering their lack of success, the team who would get more out of a win would be Dillinger and Jordan. They need to start somewhere if they hope to ever move beyond being developmental enhancement talents for the division, and beating The Vaudevillains would be a great place to start.

However, English and Gotch are probably going to be one of (if not the) top challengers for The Lucha Dragons' Tag Team Championships once The Ascension get called up to the main roster, which seems inevitable at this point.

The Men

Hideo Itami will wrestle his second match under his new name when he takes on Viktor of The Ascension. This feud began back at TO2 when Konnor and Viktor attacked Itami in order to take out their frustrations after losing the Tag Team Championships to The Lucha Dragons.

Itami was able to fend them off, but he wasn't so lucky two weeks ago when they attacked him following his match with Justin Gabriel and laid him out with The Fall of Man.

Konnor will likely be at ringside to support his partner, making things more interesting for everyone. Chances are good that he will try to help Viktor at some point during the match since that is the pattern most heel tag teams tend to follow.

Both men would benefit from the win but not very much. Itami is still new to the scene and can afford a loss, especially if there is outside interference.

Viktor would certainly get a boost from defeating the man who is known around the World as Kenta, but beating a guy half his size, likely with the help of his partner, won't get him back into the hunt for the Tag Team titles.

Either way, the outcome of this match could be a great indicator of whether or not this program will continue past this week.

Another Superstar who is in what could be called a debut push is Baron Corbin. Despite being in NXT for a little while, he was reintroduced to the NXT Universe at TO2 with a much more aggressive side to him.

Corbin will be taking on someone by the name of Troy McClain. Seeing as McClain is essentially an unknown talent, it seems like this will almost certainly be a squash match.

Even though he will probably be getting a win over a nobody, it will still help Corbin establish an image of dominance, especially if he wins as quickly as he did at TO2.

The second title match of the evening will be for the NXT Championship. Tyson Kidd will have one last shot to win the gold when he takes on Adrian Neville.

Kidd has had multiple title shots in recent months, and he keeps coming up short. William Regal is giving Kidd one final chance to become a champion, something he hasn't done since losing the WWE Tag Team titles with David Hart Smith.

At TO2, Kidd and Neville were part of one of the greatest matches to ever take place in NXT, and there is little doubt that they will deliver another show-stealing performance.

Kidd certainly has everything that it takes to be a champion in NXT. He's technically gifted, has the ability to fly through the air and has the experience to help anyone he faces look better than they really are.

Winning the belt would put Kidd in the spotlight he has deserved for a long time, but Neville has proven that he is able to take the pressure of representing the brand as its champion.

As with almost any match, both men would benefit greatly from picking up a victory, but Kidd is the one who is currently taking a backseat to his wife in storylines. Winning the belt would help change all of that very quickly.

With two title matches and another match from Hideo Itami, this is set to be a great hour of wrestling, which has become a common occurrence in NXT recently.

It must be hard for some backstage to see the developmental brand outshine the main roster from time to time, but it's kind of like how some people see college football as being more entertaining than the NFL.

Like collegiate athletes, the Superstars and Divas in NXT are still hungry and working hard to make it to the big time, whereas wrestlers on the main roster can be more worried about protecting their future than putting on the best possible show every night, much like a professional football player.

No matter how you look at it, NXT performing as well as it has been over the past few months can only help everyone in the end.

What are you looking forward to the most on this week's episode?
