Bridgewater Active for Week 10

Sunday, Nov. 15

The Vikings confirmed Bridgewater will play against the Oakland Raiders

Zimmer Comments on Bridgewater's Playing Status

Friday, Nov. 13

Vikings head coach Mike Zimmer said that Bridgewater hasn't passed concussion protocol but is expected to play in Week 10, per Matt Vensel of the Minneapolis Star Tribune.

Zimmer joined SiriusXM NFL Radio to discuss Bridgewater's status as well:

Zimmer told reporters on Nov. 9 that Bridgewater passed his first test as part of the league's concussion protocol, adding that he thinks the quarterback "will be good to go."

Latest on Bridgewater's Practice Status

Bridgewater was a full participant in practice Thursday, per Chris Tomasson of the St. Paul Pioneer Press.

Zimmer Comments on Hit That Injured Bridgewater

Sunday, Nov. 8

Zimmer was not pleased with the hit by Joyner that knocked out Bridgewater, per Vensel“If we were out in the street, we probably would have had a fight."

When asked if he thought the Rams were targeting Bridgewater, Zimmer replied, per Vensel: “I don’t know about that, but I do know that there is a history there with their defensive coordinator. I’ll leave it at that.”

Hill Replaced Bridgewater

He was replaced by Shaun Hill, who signed as a backup this offseason.

Although Bridgewater, a 2014 first-round pick, is poised in the pocket and displays better-than-advertised athleticism, he had thrown for just 1,526 yards and six touchdowns against five interceptions heading into Week 9. Prior to exiting against the Rams, he had thrown for 144 yards and one interception with zero touchdowns, though he did rush for one score.

Hill is a more reliable backup than 2014 options Christian Ponder and Matt Cassel but still tops out as mediocre. He's 35 years old and has played double-digit games in a season only once in his career.

Bridgewater also doesn't want to begin his pro career racking up weeks on the injury report.

One of the knocks on him coming out of Louisville was his slight frame. Bridgewater is listed at 6'2" and 215 pounds, both below-average marks for an NFL quarterback.

He missed time during his rookie season because of injuries, though he's been healthy throughout 2015. While most of the concerns that forced Bridgewater to fall to No. 32 overall were farcical, the early abundance of injuries may be lending some credence to the skeptics of his body type.

Of course, we'll know much more about that over a larger career sample. For now, the Vikings just hope their quarterback is OK.
