Most Ridiculous Sports Memorabilia on eBay

Nick DimengoOct 2, 2014

Sports fans are some of the most famous when it comes to not only showing off memorabilia of their favorite teams and players, but then holding onto and, eventually, selling it for other memorabilia.

And the most common of place for fans to buy and sell such things just so happens to be eBay.

While there have been once-in-a-lifetime items like historic baseballs or signed basketball shoes, not everything has great value.

Need proof? Just look at some of these most ridiculous sports items that are on eBay.

All Mark McGwire, All the Time

1 of 12

I know Mark McGwire was a solid basher back in the day, racking up 583 career homers and, for a short time, holding the single-season home run record.

But there's something about Big Mac's reputation being knocked hard by the whole performance-enhancing drug allegations that make him unappealing for me—and will most likely cost him a shot at the Hall of Fame.

For those who don't mind, though, collectors of Wheaties boxes, plastic figurines and other McGwire memorabilia might like what's on eBay right now.

Boxes of Sports Cards

2 of 12

OK, so honestly, having a bunch of boxes of sports cards isn't weird at all.

I mean, we all collected them back in the day, probably buying a Beckett to compare how much each one of the cards we had was actually worth—which never turned out to be more than about 50 cents.

But do kids really collect these any longer?

With teenagers playing with iPads and iPhones, I doubt they have time to put sports cards in a plastic case and hope it racks up the value.

If you are interested, however, you might as well go for this lady's ad seeing how she's selling her ex's card collection out of spite.

Blank San Francisco 49ers Jersey

3 of 12

Sure, owning a sports jersey of your favorite team or player is a definite must for those who are true fans.

But might I suggest actually getting one that has an identity with a certain player?

I don't know why anyone in their right mind would be interested in buying a jersey that appears to be the same as a team's but missing all of the bells and whistles.

So to the person selling this blank San Francisco 49ers jersey, I must ask: Why?

Bass Belt Buckles

4 of 12

If there's one thing that makes any person look like a complete badass, it's a killer belt buckle.

But for those who are looking for one they'll want to brag about, I would steer clear of this bass belt buckle that's currently up for grabs on eBay.

I'm not saying it's uncool to wear something that has a bass all over it, but I am saying that unless you want to be known as the biggest redneck in town, you'll want to avoid buying this belt buckle.

Jobu Bobblehead Doll

5 of 12

Many of us have most likely watched the movie Major League, which is a comedic story about the Cleveland Indians overcoming their crappy owner's attempt at ruining their season and relocating the team.

One of the more famous characters, Pedro Cerrano, had one interesting routine to help avoid or get out of slumps.

Using some sort of Voodoo, he often talked to a doll named Jobu—which, yes, was actually made into a bobblehead.

Unsurprisingly, that doll is being sold because its original owner realized how weird it is to have a Jobu bobblehead doll.

Michael Jordan Dream Team Figurine

6 of 12

Look, I'm one of the biggest Michael Jordan fans you'll ever meet.

Hell, on top of needing every single pair of Air Jordans growing up, I can honestly say that my entire mindset is, for better or worse, because of the way MJ competed to be the best.

Still, I'm not interested in getting my hands on a foot-tall figurine of the guy decked out in the '92 Dream Team uniform for over $150!

Football Coin Collection

7 of 12

I'm not going to knock anyone for having a hobby like collecting coins or something—I'm not that much of a jerk.

I will, however, question anyone who has—or wants to have—a group of 12 football coins that happen to have the faces of former NFL players like Heath Shuler, Kordell Stewart and Barry Sanders engraved on them.

These can't have any value whatsoever, so I strongly advise adding them to a pile of stuff that just sits in a drawer.

Miami Dolphins Cheerleader Photo

8 of 12

While I like looking at attractive women more than the next guy, I'm not the type of dude to go out and buy myself a single picture of a Miami Dolphins cheerleader complete with a cheesy background.

For those who might enjoy something like that, be my guest and get your personal 4-by-6 copy on eBay.

That sad thing about this particular one? Someone actually did purchase it.

Seriously, where does someone put something like that?

Jersey Hanger

9 of 12

Who knew hanging a sports jersey needed such a special hanger?

I certainly didn't.

Apparently, though, I'm out of the loop because I found several different ads for plastic rods that are described as being "jersey hangers."

Is there something I'm missing here when I just put my jerseys on a normal wire hanger up in my closet?

Fox Sports Chicago Bears Cleatus Figurine

10 of 12

We all have probably seen that Fox Sports robot that comes on during promos and between commercials and such, right?

But who would have ever thought that someone would actually come up with the idea to make a 10-inch figurine of it for someone to collect?

I'm all about showing support to a favorite team in most ways, but having this thing sitting on a desk or being played with by a kid isn't really the best way to do that.

Newspaper Storage Bags

11 of 12

Those Michigan State Spartans fans better hope the newspapers they're holding aren't worth anything because if they are, they should be wrapped up in plastic to help preserve them.

Where can someone get such a thing?

Apparently, not just at a grocery store in the plastic bag aisle because someone is actually advertising a simple zip-close bag as "Newspaper Storage" on eBay right now.

Does this sound insane to anyone else?

Dennis Rodman Figurine Head

12 of 12

One of the most rambunctious players to ever suit up in the NBA, Hall of Famer Dennis Rodman proved to be quite the character.

And while having a bobblehead or some sort of figurine of the former forward might be OK, having just the head to that doll is a completely different story.

Yet there's one currently sitting on eBay of The Worm, waiting for some lucky buyer to spend money on it.

I can't help but think that this is just a broken piece of the full figurine, so who's going to pay $50 for it?
