2014 Fantasy Football Wide Receiver Rankings: Week 5

Ryan LesterOct 1, 2014

With another exciting week of football under our belts, here are the Lester’s Legends 2014 Week 5 fantasy football wide receiver rankings.

1. Calvin Johnson, Detroit Lions

Megatron is averaging 85.3 yards and 0.5 touchdowns. He’s facing the Buffalo Bills at home. Johnson is averaging 123 yards and a touchdown in home starts this year. Buffalo has allowed 266.3 yards and 1.5 touchdowns per game through the air.

2. Antonio Brown, Pittsburgh Steelers

Brown is averaging 106.8 yards and 1.3 touchdowns. He has scored a pair of touchdowns the past two weeks. His strong play should continue against the Jacksonville Jaguars. The Jags have allowed 320.8 yards and 2.8 touchdown passes per game.

3. Julio Jones, Atlanta Falcons

Jones is averaging 111.8 yards and 0.8 touchdowns. His low-water mark is 82 yards. Jones faces the New York Giants. The G-Men have allowed 254.5 passing yards per game.

4. Jordy Nelson, Green Bay Packers

Nelson is averaging 114.8 yards and 0.8 touchdowns per game. He’s facing the Minnesota Vikings. Last year he averaged 90.5 yards and a score against Minnesota.

5. Dez Bryant, Dallas Cowboys

Dez is averaging 72.8 yards and 0.8 touchdowns. He has scored in each of his past three games. He faces the Houston Texans. The Cowboys’ transition to a ground-heavy attack takes away some of Bryant’s potential.

6. A.J. Green, Cincinnati Bengals

Green is averaging 77.7 yards. The bye week gave his toe more time to heal. He should be ready to roll against the New England Patriots.

7. Demaryius Thomas, Denver Broncos

Thomas is averaging 47 yards with just one touchdown. He has a tough draw against Patrick Peterson and the Arizona Cardinals, but it’s a matter of time before the big knocker knocks.

8. Alshon Jeffery, Chicago Bears

Jeffery is averaging 65.5 yards and 0.3 touchdowns. He topped 100 yards in Week 3 and scored a touchdown last week, so things are looking up for Jeffery. He faces the Carolina Panthers. The Panthers have allowed eight passing scores already.

9. Randall Cobb, Green Bay Packers

Cobb is averaging 58.5 yards and 1.3 touchdowns. He’s also a strong play against the Vikings.

10. Steve Smith, Baltimore Ravens

Who knew the Fountain of Youth was in Baltimore? Smith is averaging 107.3 yards and 0.8 touchdowns. He’s had at least 71 yards every week. He’ll look to stay hot against the Indianapolis Colts. The Colts have allowed 251.3 yards and 1.8 touchdowns per game.

11. Jeremy Maclin, Philadelphia Eagles

Maclin is averaging 88.3 yards and 0.8 touchdowns. He’s averaging 17.7 yards per catch. Maclin will look to remain hot against the St. Louis Rams.

12. Kelvin Benjamin, Carolina Panthers

Benjamin is averaging 82.3 yards per game and has scored a touchdown in three of four games. He’ll look to stay hot against the Bears. Chicago just got lit up by Aaron Rodgers and the Packers last week.

13. Michael Floyd, Arizona Cardinals

Floyd is averaging 84 yards per game. He should be quite busy against the Broncos. Denver has allowed 285.3 passing yards per game.

14.  Brandon Marshall, Chicago Bears

Marshall has five touchdowns on the year, but he is averaging just 36 yards per game. Clearly his ankle is giving him some issues. He’s too good not to play if he’s active against the Panthers.

15. Vincent Jackson, Tampa Bay Buccaneers

V-Jax has scored a touchdown in each of the past two weeks. He’ll look to stay hot against the New Orleans Saints. The Saints have allowed 272.5 yards and 1.8 touchdown passes per game.

16. Emmanuel Sanders, Denver Broncos

Sanders is thriving in his role with the Broncos to the tune of 111.3 yards per game. Wes Welker’s return did not slow his roll. In fact, he set career highs with 11 receptions for 149 yards.

17. DeAndre Hopkins, Houston Texans

Hopkins has scored a touchdown three of four weeks and is averaging 72.8 yards per game. He faces the Cowboys. Dallas has allowed 271.3 yards and a pair of touchdowns per game.

18. Andre Johnson, Houston Texans

Johnson is averaging 65.5 yards and has yet to score a touchdown. That could change against the Cowboys.

19. Keenan Allen, San Diego Chargers

Allen is averaging 61 yards per game after dropping 135 yards on the Jags. He’ll look for his first touchdown of the year against the New York Jets. The Jets have allowed nine passing scores.

20. Victor Cruz, New York Giants

Cruz is averaging 74.8 yards. He has topped 100 yards the past two weeks. This week brings a matchup against the Atlanta Falcons. Atlanta has allowed 276.3 yards per game.

21. Reggie Wayne, Indianapolis Colts

Wayne is averaging 76.8 yards per game. He finished with 119 yards and a score last week. He faces the Baltimore Ravens. The Ravens have allowed 260.3 yards per game.
