Night Of Champions: Thoughts, Previews and Predictions

Hello everyone. As always, I would like to thank all of you for spending a few moments with me today.

With Night of Champions a few days away, I figured it was about time I posted my thoughts and predictions. It is advertised that every title is defended on this upcoming PPV. When I looked at the WWE site, it didn’t show a women’s title match.

I personally feel the titles should be defended every PPV. Since this will never happen, I am opting not to sweat it. The card overall seems a little dull to me, though.

For starters, we have another Jeff Hardy title match. If I am not mistaken, he has either been champ or wrestled for the belt five out of the last six months. I think it is about time we got to see someone else wrestle for the belt.

The Raw title match isn’t all that much better. We get to see HHH and Cena fight for the title yet again. Why doesn’t the WWE just call Raw the HHH show and get it over with?

The other matches on the card should be decent though. We have Mysterio coming hot off the feud with Chris Jericho to fight Dolph Ziggler. We also have a six-way fight for the U.S. title, which could be decent if done right.

It is not a good PPV though when the most anticipated match is for the tag titles. They have done a good job patch working this match considering Edge's injury. At first I just assumed they would stick him with any shmuck and have him drop the belts.

I will give credit where credit it is due to the WWE. Not only have they done a good job-keeping people guessing. They have also found away to make the tag titles one of the biggest matches of the night.

Well I have gone on long enough, I suppose it is time I make my picks and be done with it.

Maryse vs. Mickie James for the Divas Title

I am sure that his will turn out to be a decent match; these two have squared off before so they know how to work a match together. It is also nice to see another women’s title match on a PPV.

If they give the ladies some time to shine, they should go on to impress everyone. I can see this one cracking the 10- to 15-minute mark. It should be some solid back and forth action between the two.

In the end, I think it will be Maryse to pull this one out in the end. I doubt it will be a clean win, and don’t be surprised to see the Miz get involved in this one.

Jericho and a Mystery partner vs. Legacy for the tag titles

This is the most interesting match of the night. I thought at first that this was just going to be a clear-cut win for Legacy. I have to say the WWE has done a superb job keeping the juice alive for this one.

The question on everyone's mind is, who will be Jericho's partner? I have seen names like Masters, Knox, and Christian thrown around. I don’t think it will be any of those guys.

I think Jericho’s mystery partner will be Lance Storm. If you give it some thought, it's not that farfetched of an idea. I could be wrong though; it wouldn’t be the first or the last time.

This should be an outstanding match no matter who Jericho ends up with. This match should easily push the 15- to 20-minute mark. I like the progress that Legacy has made throughout the year.

I am going to reluctantly say that Jericho wins this match. I have a feeling we will see Jericho with the tag belts for another month or two. I also think that after Legacy loses, will see some problems develop between the group.

Rey Mysterio vs. Dolph Ziggler for the IC title

This match I feel has a chance to be the show stealer of the night. I have to admit that Ziggler has made some solid progress. A spotlight match with Mysterio could do wonders to further his career.

It has also been nice to see the IC title to get some well-earned respect. Mysterio has done a great job representing the title and it shows. I can’t remember the last time I have been this excited for an IC title match.

I look for this one to hit the 15- to 20-minute mark. I think we will see exciting action from both guys in the ring. I have a feeling this feud is going to go on a bit longer.

In the end, I'd like Mysterio to hold the strap in the end. I eventually think Ziggler will have it, just not yet though.

Kofi vs. Swagger, Big Show, MVP, the Miz, and Carlito for the U.S. title

I am normally not a big fan of these types of matches. The formula is the same 9 out of 10 times in these kinds of bouts. There will be lots of near falls and high spots. The winner always seems to win with dumb luck.

This match is a little different for me this time around. We actually have a decent amount of the competitors who need this title. I am excluding Show and MVP from this equation.

I would be happy to see Kofi retain or have either the Miz, Carlito, or Swagger win it. The U.S. title has been represented well, which is nice to see. I also think this could turn out to be a great match if done right.

In the end, I like Swagger to walk out as the champ. I think we will be seeing a long run with him holding the belt.

Tommy Dreamer vs. Christian for the ECW title

I am very happy that Dreamer has had the chance to be the champ again. I have always respected him and admired his work ethics. With all of that said, I think his reign should end.

I don’t think this is going to be all that great of a match. I am not saying it is going to be lousy or anything. I just don’t feel this match has much juice to it. I liked Christian as the ECW champ.

I think he brought more to the table as champ then Dreamer does. I think we will see Dreamer hold on to the belt for at least one more month. I also think this will lead into a Kozlov and Dreamer feud.

CM Punk vs. Jeff Hardy

I really wish I could get excited about this match. The fact is I am tired of seeing Hardy wrestle for the belt. Did you ever hear the saying "stop beating a dead horse?" Well it applies perfectly here.

Let's face facts; unless you’re a Hardy fan you most likely don’t give a damn about this match. If the rumors are true, and I pray to god they are, it looks like Hardy will be taking some time off.

If this rumor were indeed true, then it would only seem logical that Punk retains. I’m sure the match will be good for the most part. We all know for the most part what we will see in this one.

I am happy with the Punk heel turn so far. I would like to see him move past the whole “Straight Edge” thing. He has been pulling that shtick since ROH. I have always preferred Punk as a heel though.

I expect Punk to win this one dirty.

HHH vs. Cena vs. Orton for the WWE title

In this match you can copy and paste everything I said above. If I have to watch any more Cena and HHH title matches, I will go insane. It is just beyond insane how often these two wrestle for the belt.

Can we get some new blood involved in the title? I don’t care whom; I will take Hornswoggle at this point. How about MVP? I am sure he would be a bit more exciting than HHH and Cena.

I really could care less who wins this one. I am sure it will be Orton and I am also sure he will wrestle HHH yet again next month.

Orton wins to retain the title.

I would like to stress that the last two were not a knock on Hardy, HHH, or Cena. I as well as many other fans am just getting tired of these matches.
