Manchester City's Francesco Totti Tweet Comes Back to Haunt Them

Update: Roma's official Twitter account got on board with the banter train, too. 

Will this tweet come back to haunt the Rome-based side when City visit, much like City's tweet directed at Totti did?

Manchester City played AS Roma on Tuesday night and the club's official Twitter account could not resist a cheeky dig at the Italian team's star player Francesco Totti before kick-off:

We're looking forward to hosting you @OfficialASRoma, and a legendary player such as Totti. He's never scored in England, has he? #CityvRoma

It was a classic example of tempting fate and City's social media team were suitably punished as Totti scored the equaliser for Roma with a fine chip in a 1-1 draw.

In the process, Totti overtook Ryan Giggs to become the oldest scorer in the history of the Champions League—with the goal coming just three days after his 38th birthday. 

There was also another stat surrounding the game that shows Totti has one up on Manchester City, too:
