Liddell KOs Barkley, But Charles Is Still Undisputed Worst Celebrity Golfer

This news flash just in:

Charles Barkley is still THE WORST celebrity golfer.

He re-affirmed that lowly status again last weekend in Lake Tahoe at the American Century celebrity event.

Barkely had his chance. He had his chance to shed himself of "the worst" tag.

It was there for him to take. Perhaps the countless hours with Hank Haney, one of golf's most renown teachers, had paid off.

There was UFC combatant, Chuck Liddell, ready and willing to wrestle the title away from Barkley. But no. It wasn't to be.

The three day event uses that funky "modified stableford" scoring system. For Barkley's accounting, you get a point for a par, but forget that. You get a zero for a bogey and a "minus two" points for a double-bogey, and that's where Barkley's scoring prowess lies.

Barkely jumped to a six point lead over Liddell after the first round, scoring minus-30 to Liddell's minus-36. Keep in mind that minus-36 is the equivalent of making double-bogey on each one of the 18 holes.

It was closer after 36. Barkley was at minus-61, Liddell at minus-64.

Ah, but leave it to Barkley when it comes to poor play. He came through with a dazzling MINUS 36 points in the final round to claim last place with minus-97, three points worse than Liddell.

If you've seen Barkley swing, you can understand all of this.

It would have to get better to be awful.

Tiger Woods once summed it up better than anyone:

"If there are 30 million golfers in the world," said Woods, "and I'm No. 1, Charles Barkley would be No. 30 million!"

Well said, Tiger.
