Jamaal Charles', Knile Davis' Instant Fantasy Reaction After Week 4

Scott PolacekSep 29, 2014

Guess fantasy football owners didn’t have to worry too much about Jamaal Charles’ injury after all.

Charles was listed as probable to play Monday night against the New England Patriots, but he didn’t waste much time making a serious impact on the field. In fact, he scored three touchdowns on the day, two of which came on Alex Smith passes.

Here is a look at the numbers from Charles and fellow running back Knile Davis:

ESPN Stats & Info noted that it was business as usual for Mr. Charles:

Charles missed the Kansas City Chiefs’ Week 3 game, and Davis (and his fantasy owners) made up for the missed production. Davis tallied 132 rushing yards and a touchdown in that contest and proved to fantasy owners that he is more than capable of putting up numbers when Charles is out.

However, he was productive throughout the game on Monday, even with Charles in the lineup. In fact, it was Davis’ 48-yard run that set up Charles’ second touchdown on the day.

The real question going forward for these two is what it means for the fantasy value of each if both are healthy. Clearly, Charles is a top-notch fantasy running back and has proved as much throughout his career, but Davis appears ready to vulture some meaningful carries from him moving forward.

It is good news for Charles owners that he was the running back getting the call inside the 10-yard line, since touchdowns are the key in fantasy football, but Davis appears ready to make this a two-headed running back attack, even if he didn't find the end zone.

Of course, if both put up big numbers, everyone is happy.
