The Randy Orton Character

Our actual WWE champion is the main heel on Monday Night Raw and the head of the Legacy group.  Orton beat Chris Benoit cleanly for the World heavyweight title in 2004 and after that he became four-time WWE champion:

1 )Two times at No Mercy 2007 (one awarded by Mr. McMahon and the other by beating HHH)

2) At Backlash 2009 in a six man tag team contest.

3) On Monday Night Raw in 2009 after losing the title to Batista at Extreme Rules

Well as you can see Raw's champion is Randy Orton but I have to agree that the WWE writers are really disappointing us.  Randy Orton, despite being a heel, gets often cheered by the crowd but recently what we see on Raw is only Orton's legacy getting beaten down by John Cena, Triple H or Batista who is now injured.

All Orton defences in 2009 were the same, Legacy intervening or Orton getting disqualified.  Orton had infinite number of feud with HHH and I just hope Orton beats the hell out of Cena and HHH at night of champions to end the same boring feuds.

Unlike Evolution, Legacy is not dominant at all, getting beaten down all the time and I would say Legacy lacks a member and when the surprise draft took place, it hit me that perhaps Swagger could join them. 

He could portray the character of Batista while in Evolution as he claimed he had respect for Orton then one day after getting along with fans he could turn on Orton for the title.

If McMahon wants to keep Orton as champion he cannot end all the pay-per-views in the same predictable way: an Orton DQ or legacy attacks.  

He needs to have Orton win sometimes against main event wrestlers, to at least show that the WWE champion deserves his title and make Orton a more predator-like character instead of the coward role Orton is having by each time getting taken out by HHH or often begging for mercy in the ring.

It would be better if Orton could get an Austin-like character so that he could beat the hell out of Cena and HHH.  It would be more fun and less predictable and even the same feuds would be fun to watch.
