Boris Diaw Responds to Gregg Popovich's Weight Remarks with Spectacular Photo
September 29, 2014
Boris Diaw is France's greatest gift to the American people since the Statue of Liberty. This is a fact.
With all due respect to his superstar teammate Tony Parker, Diaw is a national treasure of inestimable value. He threads passes, initiates "God Mode" and woos floating bachelorette parties, all while maintaining the figure of a particularly nimble narwhal.
Like the baller-cum-bon vivant he is, Diaw is passing the final stretch of the NBA offseason vacationing in the French Pyrenees—and Gregg Popovich is concerned.
Sports Illustrated's Chris Mannix (h/t For The Win's Micah Peters) reports that the San Antonio Spurs coach had some snarky words concerning Diaw's vacation routine during the team's media day.
Naturally, Diaw heard about Popovich's remarks and returned fire with a visual truth torpedo, posting an Instagram photo along with the caption, "No worries pop only one glass of wine and daily workouts!"
This is what's known in basketball as a "gym clearer." Something of this magnitude happens, and everyone grabs their hair and runs for the exits. You can't handle it. You have to get away.
This picture mates "U Mad Bro?" with the leisurely sophistication of the World's Most Interesting Man. It is my new favorite meme-in-progress, and I will wield it like the flaming troll-sword it is.
Chalk up another victory for Diaw. He's not the swiftest stallion in the stable, but when he's "on," he's unstoppable.
