Not for the first time this year, Liverpool have been linked with a big-money move for Napoli striker Gonzalo Higuain.

Jamie Anderson of the Daily Express cites Spanish media outlet Fichajes, claiming Liverpool are "set to launch a £31.2 million bid" to sign the Argentine international.

Anderson writes: "Rodgers is hoping to capitalise on the growing unrest surrounding Rafa Benitez's position as manager, and the threat of missing out on Champions League football next year."

The 26-year-old's talent and experience in Europe would help Liverpool's apparent goal glut this campaign. However, he is yet to score in four Serie A appearances this season.
