Overview
Perth Scorchers are out of this year's Champions League T20, but Lahore Lions still have a chance. In order to progress, they need to fill a rather complex demand. Lahore need to beat Perth by 47 runs or by 33 balls to spare in order to have a better net-run rate than Chennai Super Kings.
Lahore have had one of their matches rained off, and a late charge by Robbie Frylinck in their match against the Dolphins also impact on their NRR. For the most part, the Pakistan team's fate is in their own hands.
That Perth have only won one of their matches will serve as some impetus for Lahore, but the Australian team pushed both CSK and Kolkata Knight Riders close in the games they lost.
Lahore have not recorded a big win in the main draw of the competition, though. Margins in T20 cricket are already so small, but when they are exemplified like this, the pressure gets cranked up that much more.
The good news is that Perth have only got two batsmen who have accumulated 100 runs or more in the competition. With a number of Lahore's bowlers having bowled tightly, things could get very interesting if the weather plays its part.
Key players
Lahore
Umar Akmal has been Lahore's best batsman with 163 runs at an average of 81.50. He bats lower down the order, though, which could be a problem if Lahore are chasing a total. Management might see it fit to promote him higher up to help the cause.
Perth
Joel Paris has been one of Perth's best bowlers. He has four wickets in his three games at an average of 13.25. With Lahore already under extra pressure in terms of the margin they need to win by, Paris could cash in on some nervy batsmen.
