Chapman writes that Carlo Ancelotti is on the look out for a new left-back and would be willing to allow Coentrao to leave if Madrid are able to secure one of his preferred targets.

United made an unsuccessful bid for Coentrao over the summer but believe that a deal could now be done in January.

Spanish television station La Sexta (h/t Football Espana) report that Manchester City are lining up a move for Real Madrid centre-back Sergio Ramos.

Ramos is in talks with Madrid regarding an extension to his contract, which currently runs until June 2017. At the moment he earns in the region of €8 million a year, but La Sexta believe that City would be willing to offer up to €10 million in a bid to entice him to England.

The report does, however, suggest that Ramos is minded to stay in Madrid.

Bleacher Report columnist Guillem Balague believes that Cristiano Ronaldo is unlikely to return Manchester United next summer.

Speaking on Sky Sports' Revista de la Liga program, Balague stated that although both United and Ronaldo are keen on the move, Real Madrid are not minded to sell their star forward at the end of season.

"

People want this to happen in January, if possible. It’s not going to happen. In the summer? I don’t think it’s going to happen. Real Madrid have got no intention whatsoever of selling Cristiano Ronaldo next summer.

In two years’ time I would say yes, that is possibly the time when he will be 31 going on 32, for Real Madrid to say: ‘OK, if we can cash in on him, brilliant. He has done a lot for us, but that’s it, time to move on.
