Packers' Aaron Rodgers Reaches 25,000 Career Passing Yards

Bleacher Report MilestonesSep 29, 2014

Green Bay Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers recorded his 25,000th career passing yard during Sunday's 38-17 win over the Chicago Bears, becoming the fastest player in NFL history (in terms of passing attempts) to reach the mark, per ESPN NFL Insider Adam Caplan.

Rodgers now has 25,196 career yards on 3,085 passes, good for an incredible 8.2 yards per attempt. Per Pro-Football-Reference.com, he's tied with Norm Van Brocklin for third place on the all-time list, trailing only Hall of Famers Otto Graham (9.0 yards per attempt) and Sid Luckman (8.4).

Among quarterbacks who have played in the Super Bowl era, Steve Young is the only other passer to average eight yards per attempt for his career.

Rodgers had one of his many near-flawless performances Sunday afternoon, completing 22 of 28 pass attempts for 302 yards and four touchdowns in yet another victory over the Bears. He now owns a 10-3-0 record in 13 lifetime starts against his biggest rival, with a 69.1 completion percentage and 25-8 touchdown-to-interception ratio in those games.

Though a modest 63rd on the all-time passing yardage list, the 31-year-old Rodgers figures to climb quite a bit higher before the end of his career.

With effectiveness rarely an issue, where he ends up on the all-time lists for counting stats will largely depend on health and longevity.
