The Myth Known As THE Heart Break Kid!
Hello everyone. As always, I would like to thank you for spending some time with me.
What I would like to discuss with all of you people today may upset some. It is something that I have felt for a while so I’m just going to get it off my chest. It is also something that I don’t completely understand.
Why is it that people on here feel that HBK is the best ever? I have seen him called the Jordon of pro wrestling. I have also seen people praise this man like he invented pro wrestling.

Before I go on to explain why I feel he is no where near the best ever, I would like to tell you that I am a big HBK fan. I will also agree with everyone that he is possibly one of wrestling’s all time greats.
I’m sorry though folks he is not the best wrestler ever to step into the ring. He just isn’t folks, it’s plain and simple. This is not based off my personal onions these are just facts.
He is not the best technical wrestler ever. He has not done more for pro wrestling then guys like Flair, Hart, or Hogan just to name a few. He has also never carried a federation for more than a year or two.
Let’s travel all they back to the late 80s and early 90s. It was Hogan that carried the 80s and it was Hart that carried the early 90s. HBK did have a few title runs in the early 90s but they were never great runs.
He was a selfish wrestler when he was the champ. He never wanted to put anyone over. There have been numerous occasions that he was stripped of titles because he would refuse to drop them to anyone.
If you doubt my word at all on this look it up for yourselves. I promise you all that these are facts.
Let’s look at a couple of other aspects of HBK's Career. He is often time credited for being the guy to help smaller wrestlers break through the glass. I also hear many times on what a great technician he was.
These statements would be incorrect also. It was not HBK who helped break smaller wrestlers into the main event. It also wasn’t Bret Hart who did this as some others think.
It was Bob Backlund who would break ground for smaller wrestlers. He was the champ for 5 years in the WWWF. Backlund also would help break ground for technical wrestlers to strive in the business also.
This nonsense that HBK was one of the greatest ring technicians also has to stop. He was a decent worker in the ring, but by no means was he a great ring worker. In HBK's prime he was known as a stiff worker in the ring.
You can find all this in Bret Hart’s book. If that isn’t enough for you to believe what I have said, you can also pull up Dave Meltzer’s old columns. He by far is one of pro wrestling’s most dignified journalists.
While he has praised HBK throughout the years, he has also noted on many occasions on just how sloppy HBK can be in the ring. The years he was at his worst were when he was the champ.
HBK has never carried a program for more than a year or two. Look up the numbers they do not lie. Like I said before, in the 80s you had Hogan; in the early 90s you had Hart.
The only strong case you could make is the Attitude Era, and he didn’t even carry the Attitude Era. That honor would belong to Stone Cold Steve Austin. So at what time did he reign supreme?
If you want to argue that he was one of the best in WM history you can. You would also have to remember though that it takes two to tango. I’m sure his opponents had some say in the matter also.
Maybe it’s just me; but if I were to say that someone was the greatest wrestler ever, I would like to think he would have accomplished some of the above mentioned. You can’t even say that he was one of the best tag teams ever.
There are at least 10 other tag teams that have accomplished more than the Rockers.
I know he has paid his dues, taken his bumps, I also know he is a battler. The facts are though he is not the greatest ever. He is great I will not take that away from him though.
I will also say he is an important part of wrestling history. He has accomplished many things that others dare to dream of. I realize he is a fan favorite, but you can’t let stuff like that cloud common sense.
The diehard HBK fans out there can keep that delusion in their head. That is where it belongs though, in your head. It is just plain in simple the numbers and facts do not add up.
If you doubt my word that is fine, Take a few minutes to look it up yourself. What I have told you today is the truth. I will debate it until the end if you want to argue the points I have made.
HBK is an incredible wrestler; he is electric, beloved, and an all time fan favorite. He has also been selfish, carless throughout his journeys in the squared circle.
He may be arguably one of the best ever, but he has not re invented wrestling in any way, shape or form. That is what wrestlers do when they are even mentioned as the best ever.
I would like to thank you all again for spending some time with me.
As always, have a great day and God bless.
