Arsenal Transfer News and Rumours Tracker: Week of September 29
The summer transfer window might be over, but the business of football never stops. Like most clubs, Arsenal will already have one eye on the January window.
Arsenal's squad is far from complete. A spate of injuries have exposed some of their more vulnerable areas. Full-backs Nacho Monreal and Mathieu Debuchy are both out, leaving Arsene Wenger’s team drastically short of cover at the back.
They are not replete with options at the base of their midfield, either: Mikel Arteta, Aaron Ramsey and Jack Wilshere all picked up injuries against Tottenham, and Abou Diaby is not ready for regular competitive action.
Come January, Arsenal will surely look for at least one defender, and possibly a midfielder.

Arsenal Rumoured to Be Interested in Edinson Cavani
1 of 4
Friday, October 3
According to Alex Harris of the Daily Star, Arsenal are leading the chase for Edinson Cavani.
It would be surprising to see Arsenal move for Cavani given the recent acquisition of Danny Welbeck and the proposed contract extension for Olivier Giroud. However, the Uruguayan would undoubtedly add a world class sheen to the Arsenal attack.

Wednesday, October 1
Reports in Spain have once again linked Arsenal with a bid for Sami Khedira.
Fichajes.net (h/t The Metro) say Gunners officials are already working on a deal for January, with contract negotiations with the player presently underway.
Khedira and Arsenal have been linked with each other for many months. However, it's difficult to discern if there is tangible interest behind the stories.
Arsenal Interested in Fabian Delph Deal

Monday, September 29
Arsenal are one of the clubs linked by Steve Stammers of the Daily Mirror with an intriguing bid to sign Fabian Delph.
Delph’s impressive form in the early part of the season has seen him win a call-up to the England squad. Aston Villa would be loathe to let him go, but they might have little choice in the matter.
Incredibly, he could be set to walk away on a free transfer at the end of the season
If Delph refuses to sign a new contract, Villa might even be forced to let him go in January in order to recoup some of their investment.
In that instance, Arsenal would surely be near the front of the queue. Delph would be a good addition to their growing stable of young English internationals, adding depth and power to their midfield.
Arsenal Linked with Defender Vitorino Antunes

Monday, September 29
Arsenal are lining up a move for Portuguese international defender Vitorino Antunes, according to Jamie Anderson of the Sunday Express.
Antunes is a left-back with eight international caps, and he is said to be available for just €2.5 million.
We know Arsene Wenger loves a bargain, but it’s difficult to see him pouncing for another full-back. In Kieran Gibbs and Nacho Monreal, he already has two international-class left-backs. If Arsenal bid for a defender in January, it is more likely to be a centre-half.
