Jay Cutler, Martellus Bennett's Instant Fantasy Reaction After Week 4

Nate LoopSep 28, 2014

The Chicago Bears had a tough time keeping up with the Green Bay Packers in Week 4, but fantasy football owners can remain bullish about the production of quarterback Jay Cutler and tight end Martellus Bennett.

Cutler completed 22 of 37 passes for 256 yards and two touchdowns, but he also tossed two costly interceptions. He continues to spread the ball around fairly evenly, a good sign for owners of either Bennett or Cutler.

Still, he's thrown 10 touchdowns so far in this young season and is on track to put up some big numbers with talented wideouts like Brandon Marshall and Alshon Jeffery in the fold—and of course, Bennett at tight end.

Cutler is still definitely a starter in deeper leagues and a must-play in two-quarterback leagues. Fans should keep an eye on the turnovers, but Cutler should be able to correct this problem. As ESPN Stats & Info points out, he rarely puts one over on the Green Bay Packers:

Bennett had a fine performance of his own, racking up over 100 yards receiving in the first half. However, fantasy owners shouldn't get used to these big days from Bennett, as ESPN.com's Michael C. Wright pointed out it was a novel event in his career:

He didn't do much in the second half and finished with nine receptions for 134 yards. Bennett has found the end zone four times already this season. This newfound consistency makes him a lock as a TE1, and fantasy owners can expect him to get plenty of targets in the coming weeks with Marshall potentially limited by injuries.
