Madison Bumgarner Attempts to Pound 2 Beers, Pours Contents on Chest

Dan CarsonSep 26, 2014

The San Francisco Giants clinched a spot in the National League Wild Card Game on Thursday after the struggling Milwaukee Brewers lost 5-3 to the Cincinnati Reds

Naturally, Madison Bumgarner opted to tip his cap to the Brewers' sloppy finish by upending two beers and sluicing their contents ever so gently down his chest.

MLB columnist Carmen Kiew of BaySportsNet.com brings us a GIF of this most frothy moment, happening in the background of a Tim Hudson interview. When properly executed, this practice is called "chugging" or "waterfalling." When Bumgarner does it, it looks more like a "Big Country Carwash."

This is but a taste of the Giants pitcher's innovative beer-swilling techniques from Thursday night. Judging by pictures taken inside the team's tarped-off clubhouse, Bumgarner attempted to invent new ways to pour alcohol near his face.

At one point, the pitcher grabbed another two beers and enlisted the help of a teammate to pour a third into his mouth—because dual cans of beer are not enough when you're 6'5".

So let it never be said that Bumgarner doesn’t go hard in the clubhouse. He doesn’t need a bicycle to commemorate a playoff berth. All Big Country wants is to fit as much light beer in his mouth as ergonomically possible.
