Derek Jeter Hits Walk-off Single in Final at-Bat at Yankee Stadium

Tyler BrookeSep 25, 2014

New York Yankees fans will never forget Derek Jeter's final game at Yankee Stadium.

It looked like the Yanks would cruise to a 5-2 win over the Baltimore Orioles with closer David Robertson on the mound in the top of the ninth inning. However, Robertson gave up a two-run home run to outfielder Adam Jones and a game-tying solo shot to first baseman Steve Pearce, knotting the game at five.

While Yankee fans were undoubtedly disappointed, it set up a Hollywood ending with Jeter due up third in the bottom of the ninth.

Following a Jose Pirela single and a Brett Gardner sacrifice bunt, Jeter hit this walk-off, opposite-field single in his final career at-bat at home, scoring pinch-runner Antoan Richardson and giving his team the 6-5 win.

For a legend like Jeter, there couldn't have been a more perfect ending.
