NFL Injury Report Week 4: Team-by-Team Updates, Inactive List and More

Donald WoodSep 25, 2014

Injuries have been piling up for NFL teams and fantasy football owners. As bye weeks begin in Week 4, football fans are looking to the injury reports for the latest updates on the top names.

With stars like Jamaal Charles, Brandon Marshall, Arian Foster and others all dealing with injuries early in the season, fantasy owners and fans of each team will be keeping a close eye on their availability in Week 4.

Here is the latest news, status updates and team-by-team inactives for the fourth week of the season.

Jamaal Charles, RB, Kansas City Chiefs

Status: Probable

Despite missing last week’s game with a high-ankle sprain, Kansas City Chiefs running back Jamaal Charles is expected to practice this week by head coach Andy Reid, according to BJ Kissel of KCChiefs.com:

If Charles practices this week, fantasy owners should have him in their starting lineups. As great as Knile Davis was last week, he won’t see the workload needed to be a viable start in even the deepest leagues.

Brandon Marshall, WR, Chicago Bears

Status: Active

Chicago Bears wide receiver Brandon Marshall re-injured his ankle during Week 3 against the New York Jets, but returned to the game. Marshall only managed one reception and was clearly hampered by the injury.

Marshall is active for Sunday's game against Green Bay, according to the team's inactive list.

Arian Foster, RB, Houston Texans

Status: Active

Houston Texans running back Arian Foster was unable to play in Week 3 while dealing with a hamstring injury. According to Dale Robertson of the Houston Chronicle, this is the same hamstring Foster injured in preseason and there is no timetable for a return.

Fortunately for Houston, Foster was not listed on the inactive list and will play Sunday against Buffalo.

Tony Romo, QB, Dallas Cowboys

Status: Probable

After finding success last week by not practicing on Wednesday, Dallas Cowboys quarterback Tony Romo missed practice on the second-straight Wednesday and underwent treatment while recovering from multiple offseason back surgeries, according to ESPN’s Ed Werder:

As the season drags on, Romo’s back will continue to be a concern. Taking a preemptive measure to protect him and giving him time off during the week is a way to avoid the fatigue and give the QB a chance to succeed.

Doug Martin, RB, Tampa Bay Buccaneers

Status: Active

After Tampa Bay Buccaneers running back Doug Martin missed Week 3’s game with a knee injury, Greg Auman of the Tampa Bay Times reported that he practiced this week without limitations:

Martin did not appear on the team's inactive list and will play Sunday against Pittsburgh.
