Jacksonville Jaguars Send Letter Asking Fans to Sit Down at Games

Dan CarsonSep 23, 2014

Hey, Jacksonville Jaguars fans. How about you stop being all boisterous and vertical for one minute and let the rest of the real fans enjoy the game?

The Jaguars relayed these sentiments in a recent letter sent to season ticket holders, some of whom appear to have angered other fans by standing up too often during games.

Big Cat Country's Alfie Crow shared the letter wherein the franchise provides a soft reminder that standing is encouraged at EverBank Field, but only in small doses.

Here's a partial transcript of the letter, which kindly asks patrons to switch to new "Standing Encouraged" sections should they wish to continue actively being fans of the team:

"

The Jaguars have received multiple reports of individuals standing excessively without respect to other fans in the area. To be courteous to fans around you when you are standing and cheering for the team, we ask that you please stand with the flow of the game, making sure not to block aisles or prevent the flow of traffic. We are pleased to inform you that based on fan feedback in previous seasons, this year the Jaguars created two "Standing Encouraged" sections; sections 123 and 124. Members interesting in standing for the entire game may relocate their current seats into available seats in sections 123 or 124.

"

The letter goes on to outline the team's fan-conduct policy, explaining again that supporters should only stand to cheer "when appropriate with the flow of the game." It also notes that failure to comply will end in "ejection without refund and [the] potential loss of season ticket privileges."

In other words, if the Bortle-y goodness of a Blake Bortles touchdown makes you want to get up and scream, do it quick, buddy. There's a lot riding on the comfort of the sitters who wish to watch Bortles' steaming man-cannon of an arm from a seated position. This is a stadium, not a rumpus room, pal

Jokes aside, you should always be aware of your surroundings at a sporting event. If you're blocking the view of children or an elderly person, perhaps ask to switch seats. It seems like the solution to blocked views is a common-sense fix fans can undertake on their own as opposed to an epidemic requiring franchise letterhead to rectify.

In any case, you've been warned, standers of EverBank. Move to the standing section or face vertical persecution, you rambunctious heathens.
