NBA Live 15: Latest Revealed Player Ratings Leading Up to Release Date

Brian MaziqueSep 25, 2014

EA Sports is readying its second attempt at a virtual hoops title on next-generation consoles. NBA Live 15 was originally slated to release Oct. 7, but the date was changed to Oct. 28.

Even with the delay, the flow of prerelease information is heating up. On Tuesday, EA Sports started revealing the top five players at each position. It began with the point guards.

To almost no one's surprise, Los Angeles Clippers star Chris Paul got the top rating at his position. Paul comes in with a rating of 94 overall. After a year in which he averaged 19.1 points, 10.7 assists, 4.3 rebounds and 2.5 steals per game, Paul deserved to be the top lead guard.

Golden State Warriors star Stephen Curry is next with a 92 rating. He's followed by the Oklahoma City Thunder's Russell Westbrook with a 91. Rather surprisingly, the Washington Wizards' John Wall earned a higher rating than former Chicago Bulls league MVP Derrick Rose, San Antonio Spurs NBA champion Tony Parker and NBA Live 15 cover athlete and Portland Trail Blazers star Damian Lillard.

Wall was given a 90 overall rating while Rose, Parker and Lillard each have a mark of 89. Last year's cover athlete, the Cleveland Cavaliers Kyrie Irving didn't crack the top five.

On Wednesday, the top shooting guards were released.

James Harden was the deemed the class of NBA 2-guards. The Houston Rockets' bearded star and vital member of the Team USA's World Cup squad wasn't dinged too much for his questionable defense. He came through with a 90 overall rating.

Kobe Bryant may not be as athletic as he once was, but the Black Mamba is still getting love from ratings makers at EA Sports. He comes in just one point below Harden.

The rest of the top-five shooting guards are listed below:

  • James Harden - 90
  • Kobe Bryant - 89
  • Dwyane Wade – 86
  • Lance Stephenson - 85
  • DeMar DeRozan - 85

EA Sports might get some push back from fans north of the border. Toronto Raptors shooting guard DeMar DeRozan is rated one point lower than Dwyane Wade. If the year was 2010, there might not be any argument, but Wade is 32, and he looked to be far beneath the Flash we all watched dominate in the early 2000s.

The Charlotte Hornets' Lance Stephenson is equal with DeRozan. We don't know Kemba Walker's rating just yet, but with Stephenson rated so high, it seems the Hornets will have a solid backcourt.
