Terrell Owens Finally Comes Out of His Shell

I feel bad for Terrell Owens.  The poor guy just cannot seem to get fair shake with the media and the fans.  He acts like a jackass on and off the field for the better part of a decade and suddenly everyone wants to assume that he actually is a jackass. That’s not right, people.

Clearly we are not seeing the real TO.  The TO that created this on-field “character” in order to milk the maximum amount of publicity for himself regardless of how it affected his teammates, image and ultimately his career is really just misunderstood. 

But thankfully all that changes tonight. 

Tonight is the debut of “The TO Show” airing on one of the premier outlets of credible journalism in the media today.  Via the AP:

In an eight-episode reality series set to premiere Monday on the VH-1 cable network, Owens says he’ll present a counter argument to critics who portray him as a one-dimensional showboat perhaps known as much for self-indulgent sideline eruptions and quarterback criticisms as for being one of the most prolific receivers of his generation.

It really is a shame that he has been portrayed as a one-dimensional, self-indulgent showboat considering absolutely none of it has been done by his choosing.  Can’t everyone see that all he wants to do is just step out of the limelight and be one of the guys.  One of his publicist’s, Monique Jackson, wants everyone to stop piling on:

“He’s human. He has feelings. He has a life story.  There are all these layers that you don’t understand, and all you see is this crazy body with phenomenal athletic abilities and this character.”

Why can’t we live in a society where a man can hold public workouts in his driveway, pose nude for his TV show promo poster and then subsequently show up to the premier party for said show wearing a leather jacket with no shirt without being objectified.  He’s more than a crazy body, you animals!

Let’s face it, the best way for the public to get a true, unbiased glimpse into the life and personality of Terrell Owens is by watching a reality show about him in which he is the executive producer. 

Finally, America can see TO without the agenda.
