Martellus Bennett, Jay Cutler's Instant Fantasy Reaction After Week 3

Sean ODonnellSep 22, 2014

The Chicago Bears offense just kept rolling along in Week 3 against the New York Jets on Monday Night Football. Two big reasons for the recent success of this unit were quarterback Jay Cutler and tight end Martellus Bennett.

Here's a look at the duo's final numbers:

Cutler torched the Jets' secondary for the majority of Monday night's contest, completing 23 of his 38 passing attempts for 225 yards, two touchdowns and zero interceptions for a passer rating of 94.7.

Both of his scoring passes came from inside the Jets' 20-yard line, bringing his total of red-zone touchdown strikes to eight this season. ESPN Stats & Info noted where the quarterback stands in the league:

Martellus Bennett85542

So, who was on the receiving end of both touchdowns? That would be the 6'6", 265-pound Bennett.

Coming into Monday's contest, the tight end had already recorded 107 receiving yards and two touchdowns in 2014. Well, it didn't take him long to double his scoring production against New York—he padded his numbers with five receptions for 54 yards.

Here's a look at a very wide-open tight end, courtesy of ESPN Monday Night:

It appears Cutler and Bennett have great chemistry, as the signal-caller continues to impress with solid decisions and accurate throws, while the tight end continues to be a matchup nightmare for opposing defenses.

Cutler is quickly emerging as a great option for fantasy owners. He should be considered a high-end starting quarterback going forward, as the Bears' offensive scheme appears to be revolving around the passing game.

Bennett is quickly working his way up the fantasy ranks as well. With four touchdowns through three games, he's a fantastic starting option in his own right.
