On a 3rd-and-long near the end of the third quarter, Vikings defendersย Captain Munnerlyn andย Robert Blanton combined to sack Brees. It was no ordinary sack, however, as the two defenders essentially bodyslammed the quarterback.

Munnerlyn was flagged for unnecessary roughness on the play. It turned out to be a costly penalty, because instead of the Saints having to punt, they were given a first down. New Orleans ended up scoring a touchdown on the drive to take a 20-9 lead.
