Redskins cornerback DeAngelo Hall has re-injured his surgically repaired Achilles’ tendon and will require a second surgery, according to a report. …

…On Friday morning, ESPN’s Adam Schefter reported that Hall had torn the same tendon and must now redo the surgery, at best resetting the clock on his recovery timeframe and at worst extending it.

It’s unclear how Hall re-injured himself, but it certainly raises questions about his NFL future given his age 30.

The Washington Redskins have been marred by injuries to start 2014, and it reached over to the defensive side of the ball on Sunday as DeAngelo Hall left Sunday's game against the Eagles with an Achilles injury.

Redskins safety Ryan Clark commented on the loss of Hall via Tarik El-Bashir of CSN Washington:

He was voted captain for a reason. He was playing very good football for us. Now we have to figure out how to replace, not only what he was able to do on the field, but also what he [brought] in the meeting room and practice field. That’s a huge loss for us. But we got to find a way to compensate for it very quickly, because we’re back on Thursday.

One of the leaders of the Redskins defense, the 30-year-old cornerback has been a staple in the Washington secondary since his arrival in 2009. He has stayed healthy throughout almost all of that span, starting all 16 games in each of the last four seasons.

Second-year pro David Amerson should continue manning the other island, but backup corner E.J. Biggers—a sixth-year standout who signed with Washington before the 2013 season—will likely be thrust into action until Hall is able to make his return.

One of the league's worst units a year ago, the Redskins defense has surprised to start 2014 and ranks sixth in the NFL through two games. But it's going to be tough keeping that up without one of its leaders in the fold.
