Terrance West, Isaiah Crowell's Instant Fantasy Reaction After Week 3

When Ben Tate went down in the opening week of the season, doubt crept in as to who would man the Cleveland Browns backfield. Isaiah Crowell and Terrance West continue to be the dynamic duo that does so.

In the Browns' Week 3 contest against the Baltimore Ravens, both Crowell and West reached the end zone. Crowell scampered for 55 yards on 11 carries, while West had 12 carries for 36 yards along with a touchdown for each despite falling 23-21 at home.

The Ravens had avoided giving up a touchdown in the red zone all season, before the two Browns backs broke the trend, per Daryl Ruiter of 92.3 The Fan:

Don't overlook the impact of fullback Ray Agnew, either, who has been plowing open run lanes for the two young rushers, as Brent Sobleski of Bleacher Report noticed:

West was expected to be a strong fantasy option in the first place after carving out the No. 2 job in training camp. But with Tate out of the fold, Cleveland has effectively gone with a two-headed rushing attack.

And it has paid dividends so far. Previously struggling to earn a roster spot, Crowell now has three touchdowns in this early season while the rookie West had 168 yards and a score prior to Sunday.

With the Browns heading into a bye week, however, Tate is likely to return to action against the Tennessee Titans in Week 5, according to ESPN.com's Pat McManamon. If he's right health-wise, the impact of both Crowell and West will be diminished greatly—especially Crowell, who will fall back to third on the running back depth chart.

West is worth holding onto in standard fantasy leagues considering his touches are more concrete. Crowell, on the other hand, is likely to fall back into fantasy irrelevance with Tate returning soon.

But it will be awfully hard for Browns coaches to stomach disbanding this suddenly dynamic duo of backs after their performances Sunday.
