Barcelona Transfer News: Latest Speculation Surrounding Luis Enrique's Squad

Tom SunderlandSep 21, 2014

With an impending transfer ban floating above their heads as we move closer to 2015, Barcelona wouldn't appear to have much in terms of incoming prospects this winter—or next summer, as things stand.

As a result, all the latest speculation around the club concerns talk of who may or may not be leaving Camp Nou next year, with a particular emphasis on the club's youth at present.

Luis Enrique may be keen to keep hold of any players currently under Barca's roof, but the intrigue of Europe's lurking giants may test their desire to do so.

Sergi Samper

Having made his senior Barcelona debut in the 1-0 win over APOEL Nicosia last week, Sergi Samper is only at the beginning of his journey with the club but already his loyalties are being tested, it appears.

The 19-year-old is contracted to the club until 2017, and ESPN FC's Lee Roden provided quotes from the midfielder regarding his intentions to stay at Camp Nou for years to come:

"

Yes, I had offers [from England], but it's something I didn't bother to listen to. What I've always wanted is to stay here. It's an incredible feeling and I'm really happy. The boss, Xavi, everyone told me the same thing. Be calm, do what I have done during preseason and with Barca B.

"

The Mirror's Ben Burrows had reported earlier in September that Arsenal were among those looking to lure Samper away from his boyhood club, but it would seem the teenager hasn't got eyes for anyone else.

Barcelona's official Twitter account made sure to congratulate their academy graduate upon making his debut, while Spanish newspaper SPORT showed it was a very solid outing against the Cypriots:

With time, Samper should grow to become a more integral piece of the Barca line-up, much to the dismay of those who would look to tempt him away.

Gerard Deulofeu

Gerard Deulofeu has revealed just how sudden a shock it was to learn that he'd be spending the 2014-15 season on loan with Sevilla

Having expected to remain with the first team this term, the former Everton loanee opened up to radio station Onda Cero (h/t SPORT's Sam Marsden) regarding his shock:

"I would like to have known I was going to be sent out on loan. You have to take it little by little. This is a process, as the 'mister' has said. You don't just turn up somewhere and be the best."

It would be understandable if Deulofeu's relationship with his parent club had taken a knock as a result of the late revelation, especially considering Luis Enrique's tendency to field the likes of Munir El Haddadi, Sandro and Rafinha this term.

Deulofeu is making the most of his opportunity, however, OptaJose and Dermot Corrigan of ESPN FC each praising the youngster for his efforts against Feyenoord in the Europa League last week:

The 20-year-old will be eager to ensure he doesn't end up in a perpetual cycle of loan spells in pursuit of a brighter future at Camp Nou, and the snap judgement in his most recent farming out may not signal vast encouragement.
