Latest Injury Updates for NFL Week 3
We are already into Week 3 of the 2014 NFL season. This, of course, means that significant injuries are starting to pile up.
These are injuries that probably don't mean a lot to the casual sports fan. To the fantasy footballer, gaming-establishment regular or plain old die-hard fan, however, injury updates are kind of a thing.
Over the next few pages, we'll examine the most significant injury situations around the league. We're going to focus primarily on prominent players and provide up-to-date analysis based on the latest reports.
Robert Griffin III
1 of 7
Washington quarterback Robert Griffin III suffered a dislocated ankle against the Jacksonville Jaguars in Week 2.
His departure allowed backup Kirk Cousins to step in and direct a 41-10 victory for Washington.
Cousins looks like he can be a legitimate NFL starter. Many fans, however, are concerned about the status of Griffin. Considering it cost Washington three first-round draft picks to acquire Griffin, it would seem the concern is warranted.
According to Gary Mihoces of USA Today, Washington head coach Jay Gruden believes Griffin will be out for six-to-eight weeks.
Griffin has already started rehab. Again.
While he may be back sooner than anticipated, don't expect to see Griffin on the playing field any time within the next month.
Mark Ingram
2 of 7
New Orleans Saints running back Mark Ingram is currently in a contract year.
Under typical circumstances, this would probably drive Ingram to play hard for his financial future.
The problem here is that Ingram suffered a broken hand against the Cleveland Browns in Week 2.
According to Will Brinson of CBSSports.com, Ingram is expected to miss at least a month with the injury.
Ben Tate
3 of 7
Former Houston Texans running back Ben Tate was supposed to finally land a starting job this season.
Unfortunately, Tate's bid for a starring role was derailed by a knee injury suffered during the Browns' first game against the Pittsburgh Steelers.
According to Nate Ulrich of the Akron Beacon Journal, Tate has been ruled out for the Week 3 matchup against the Baltimore Ravens.
A.J. Green
4 of 7
Cincinnati Bengals star receiver A.J. Green left the field with a foot injury against the Atlanta Falcons in Week 2. He did not return.
According to Geoff Hobson of Bengals.com, Green feels healthy and plans to play against the Tennessee Titans on Sunday.
Bernard Pierce
5 of 7
Baltimore Ravens running back Bernard Pierce is officially listed as questionable for Sunday's game against the Browns.
According to Jamison Hensley of ESPN.com, however, Bernard was a full participant in Friday's practice and is likely to start against Cleveland.
Pierce landed on the injury report with a thigh injury, but it doesn't appear that it will cause him to miss any playing time.
Jamaal Charles
6 of 7
Kansas City Chiefs running back Jamaal Charles exited the game early against the Denver Broncos in Week 2.
According to Adam Teicher of ESPN.com, Charles is dealing with a high-ankle sprain. He didn't return against Denver, but he did practice on Friday in preparation for the Miami Dolphins.
Per Teicher, Charles has about a 50-50 chance of playing.
Jordan Cameron
7 of 7
Cleveland Browns tight end Jordan Cameron made the Pro Bowl in 2013 after catching 80 passes for 927 yards and seven scores.
He hasn't played since Week 1 because of a shoulder issue.
According to Pro Football Talk's Mike Wilkening, Cameron had a limited workout on Friday and is officially listed as questionable.
