Baltimore Ravens running back Bernard Pierce has been added to the team's injury report after a thigh injury has kept him limited in practice as the Ravens prepare for a Week 3 contest against the Cleveland Browns.
Jon Meoli of The Baltimore Sun reported that Pierce has been listed as questionable for Sunday:
The 24-year-old rose eyebrows when he was a limited participant in practice Thursday, upon which the Ravens placed him on the injury report.
Although, it was noted by Aaron Wilson of The Baltimore Sun that Pierce returned on Friday:
In his first game as the Ravens' starting running back, Pierce struggled in Week 1 against the Cincinnati Bengals with six carries for 17 yards and a lost fumble. But he bounced back in a big way on Thursday Night Football in Week 2 against the Pittsburgh Steelers, taking 22 carries for 96 yards.
Justin Forsett has been a head-turner early on in 2014 with 126 yards and a touchdown through two games, but his ability to impact the game as a change-of-pace back directly feeds off of Pierce's bruising style. Without one, the impact of the other is diminished greatly.
Against a Browns defense that ranks 26th in run defense early in 2014, albeit with a strong secondary, the Ravens were expected to lean on the ground attack more so than usual on Sunday.
If Pierce is unable to go or isn't at full strength, promising rookie Lorenzo Taliaferro figures to get his first carries of the season on Sunday after his strong preseason performance.
