WWE NXT: Full Preview, Rumors and More for September 18
Welcome to Bleacher Report's preview for the September 18 episode of NXT on the WWE Network. Spoilers are already out there, but if you want to know what will happen without having the matches spoiled for you, you're in the right place.
After last week's two-hour live special, NXT is back to normal this week with the usual hour-long, pre-taped program.
Takeover 2 was a huge success for WWE, with several standout performances delivered by some of the best Superstars NXT has to offer.

Modern-Day Dream Matches 💭

Most Likely Backlash Heel/Face Turns 🎭
Even with all the great matches we saw, the biggest story may have been the debut of Kenta, who now goes by the name Hideo Itami. He made a big impact when he sent The Ascension packing after they tried to take out their aggression from losing their titles on him.
Itami will be debuting in the ring this week, but we'll get to that in a bit. Let's take a look at what we will see on Thursday's episode of NXT.
The Rookies
The first match of the evening will see Dash Wilder and Scott Dawson battle Buddy Murphy and Wesley Blake. This is one of those rare matches where all four men could desperately use the win.
None of them were featured on the Takeover 2 card, which tells you something about their standing on the roster. This match gives them the chance to show the people in charge that they have what it takes to be on the next live special.
Without reading the results in advance, it's very hard to pick a winner to this bout. Neither team has the advantage when it comes to popularity or level of success. It should be interesting to see how this tag match plays out.
The Ladies
The NXT women's champion will be back in action this week when Charlotte takes on Emma. The Nature Boy's daughter gets no rest after successfully defending her title against Bayley in one of the best matches from last week.
Emma will likely be an easy workout for Charlotte. Emma just isn't being booked as a strong enough competitor to be a real challenge.
However, a win here could be a sign that Emma is also being put into the hunt for Charlotte's title. She definitely needs the boost after being left hanging by Santino Marella's recent neck issues.
If Emma is brought into the fold, that would give Charlotte a third competitor gunning for her title after Sasha Banks and Bayley both made their intentions known at Takeover 2.
The more people you put into the title scene, the harder it is to predict who will eventually come out on top. Wrestling can always use a little more unpredictability.
The New Guy
The highly anticipated debut of Hideo Itami will take place Thursday when he takes on Justin Gabriel. Both men wrestle very exciting styles, so this should be a fun exhibition of their talents.
This is Itami's first chance to make an impression on the WWE Universe. He gave us a taste at Takeover 2, but he now needs to show us what he is capable of.
It's obvious that the NXT audience is only a fraction of the total WWE fanbase, but how Itami performs in his first match is something a lot of people will be interested to see.
There is a lot of hype surrounding the Japanese star. If you are familiar with his work, then you know he is capable of living up to it, but we've thought the same thing about a lot of other international stars who have come and gone.
There will be a lot of eyes watching Hideo Itami in his first match. Hopefully he doesn't drop the ball. Check out the included video that shows Itami taking on Nigel McGuinness from their days in Ring of Honor to see just how talented this guy is.
The Other New Guy
Baron Corbin was reintroduced to the NXT Universe at Takeover 2 in a match against CJ Parker. You can barely even call it a match since Corbin destroyed Parker in a matter of seconds.
This week will see Parker looking to get some retribution for being embarrassed on the biggest stage NXT has to offer.
Corbin was made to look like a dominant powerhouse with his quick victory. If the image is going to stick, he needs to do the same thing this week.
Beating Parker again certainly won't get Corbin a title shot, but two victories over a semi-established star will definitely help him make an impression.
A win for Parker would put him back on the right track, but it's hard to imagine someone who was beaten so decisively coming back and beating the man who crushed him the next week.
The Main Event
The main event of the show will see Adrian Neville team up with Sami Zayn to take on Titus O'Neil and Tyson Kidd.
After three of these men took part in what was arguably the greatest title match in NXT history, there will be a little pressure on them to deliver another memorable performance.
Titus O'Neil is new to the mix, basically taking the position that has been filled by Tyler Breeze in recent weeks. Whether he is part of the winning team could be an indicator of whether or not we will see more of him in the coming weeks.
O'Neil has not had much success since The Prime Time Players broke up, so the best way to revitalize his career could be a brief stint in NXT.
What would be even better for O'Neil is being brought into the NXT title scene. It would be a great way to test his ability to stand on his own instead of relying on a tag team partner like he did with Darren Young and like he is currently doing with Heath Slater.
It looks like the Superstars and Divas of NXT are getting right back to business as usual following last week's huge Takeover 2 special. What are you looking forward to seeing most on this week's show?
