Clemson Football Recruiting: Latest Updates on 2015 Commits, Visits and Targets

Zach GillilandSep 17, 2014

For the Clemson Tigers, things are pretty much done in the 2015 recruiting cycle. With 22 commits, there isn’t much more room in the incoming class.

So, we focus our attention to the players already committed to the Tigers, a group that includes eight 4-star prospects. The Tigers have the potential to finish with a top-10 class and build momentum for the future.

Tucker Israel Chasing Records

The future looks bright at quarterback with Deshaun Watson behind center, but Tucker Israel also has Tigers fans excited about the future.

An underrated quarterback, Israel recently broke two Florida state-passing records and is close to breaking another one. Per Buddy Collings of Orlando Sentinel, Israel set state career records for completions (735) and yards (10,725) this season.

He is also only four touchdown passes away from the state record of 125. This will be fun to watch as Israel’s Lake Nona team is set to take on Kissimmee September 26.

Should We Worry About Ray-Ray McCloud?

Since committing to Clemson on July 28, McCloud has taken two visits to another school. That school, according to McCloud’s profile on 247Sports, is Florida.

He visited the Gators on August 10 and was in Gainesville again for the recent game versus Kentucky. Should this be something the Tigers should worry about?

Josh Newberg of Noles247 notes that McCloud will take official visits to Clemson, UCLA and Florida but is still solid to Clemson for now. Newberg believes that McCloud’s recruitment could still change though, saying, “You never know what’s going to happen when you get a kid on campus.”

Clelin Ferrell Injury

3 of 4

Defensive end Clelin Ferrell was a big addition for the Tigers over the summer, but Ferrell will likely miss the entire senior season with a torn ACL. Per Tony Crumpton of TigerNet.com, Ferrell was injured on a non-contact play during a scrimmage.

Hopefully for the Tigers, Ferrell will be able to get his knee back to full strength and still be the same dominant pass-rusher. As a junior, he recorded 60 tackles and 11.5 sacks.

Latest on Albert Huggins

4 of 4

Albert Huggins would be a good addition to the 2015 class because of what Clemson loses on the defensive line this season.

Huggins recently told Chad Simmons of Scout.com that he doesn't have a favorite right now, and he is still taking things slow. Simmons notes that the defensive tackle plans to enroll early, so he will need to reach a decision by December.

Although he hasn't publicly stated the Tigers are a favorite, Dabo Swinney and Company should like their chances. 247Sports still gives the Tigers a 91 percent chance at landing Huggins, according to its Crystal Ball Predictions.
