NFL Injury Report Week 3: Team-by-Team Updates, Inactive List and More

Donald WoodSep 18, 2014

For the football fans who had forgotten just how unpredictable the NFL could get, the first two weeks of the 2014 regular season have been a roller coaster of emotions stemming from injuries to top stars in the league.

With big names like Cincinnati’s A.J. Green, Kansas City’s Jamaal Charles, Tampa Bay’s Doug Martin and many others going down injured in Week 2, fantasy owners and fans of the aforementioned teams will be checking to see their status for Week 3.

Here is the latest news, status updates and team-by-team inactives for the third week of the season.

A.J. Green, WR, Cincinnati Bengals

Status: Active

During the team’s Week 2 victory, Cincinnati Bengals wide receiver A.J. Green aggravated a toe injury he suffered in Week 1 and missed the majority of the game. Despite the injury, Green is active, according to the team's official inactive list.

Jamaal Charles, RB, Kansas City Chiefs

Status: Inactive

After suffering a high ankle sprain in Week 2, Kansas City Chiefs running back Jamaal Charles did not practicing Wednesday, was limited on Thursday, but will not play Sunday, as he is officially listen on the team's inactive list.

Kansas City and fantasy owners will now turn to backup Knile Davis. With a tough matchup against the Miami Dolphins, Davis is still worth a start as the team’s only viable option out of the backfield.

Roddy White, WR, Atlanta Falcons

Status: Inactive

The Atlanta Falcons played on Thursday Night Football in Week 3, but wide receiver Roddy White has missed practice all week with a hamstring injury and was inactive for the game, according to the team's official inactive list.

The Falcons' offensive unit is better with Roddy White in the lineup. The hope is that the injury isn’t worse than expected and doesn’t hamper him throughout the season.

Doug Martin, RB, Tampa Bay Buccaneers

Status: Inactive

After missing Week 2’s game with a knee injury, Tampa Bay Buccaneers running back Doug Martin practiced all week, but was inactive for Thursday’s game against the Atlanta Falcons, according to Greg Auman of the Tampa Bay Times:

Ian Rapoport of NFL.com reported Martin would likely be out in Week 3:

DeSean Jackson, WR, Washington Redskins

Status: Active

Despite not practicing Wednesday with a shoulder injury, Washington Redskins wide receiver DeSean Jackson is not listed on the inactive list and will play on Sunday against the Philadelphia Eagles.

Jackson was cut by the Eagles last season and will have a chip on his shoulder (no pun intended) going up against his old team. When he plays Sunday, expect him to be a top target of backup quarterback Kirk Cousins.
